Pep Boys lift table on sale, any good..?

Post by Drumwoulf »

Pep Boys currently has a “Big Red Jacks” ‘600lb’ cap. motorcycle jack table on sale for $200. Anyone know anything about this table? Is it reliable, and worth it? And big and sturdy enough for lifting a 225-lb Buddy125, and a 310-lb Vespa GT 200?

Am getting too old and aching now to be crawling around under my scoots for minor things like oil, filters, and tire changes; an adequate lift table in my garage would be much appreciated! (And a Merry Christmas to me..?)

Thanks,
Namaste,

IIRC, glasseye on ModernVespa got the table from Harbor Freight which folks said was the same as the Pep Boys one. According to him the Harbor Freight one was good for the scooters you mention (He has a GTS). The "gotcha" is that it's heavy. Even if the guys at the store help you load it into, say, a pickup truck, you are going to need some help to unload it when you get home.

How about cheaper lifts, such as this:

Can the bottom of a Buddy fit on this alright?

Thanks,

I have that one. Although I have yet to attempt lifting the Buddy on it, it works OK for my other bikes - although you either have to remove the exhaust or construct a wooden "frame" to place between the lift and your bike. Oh yeah, it helps the strap the bike to the lift also.
