Is this carb right for my 125?

Post by Eric »

After months of trying to fix it, and getting some valuable feedback from the community here, I've decided to throw in the towel and replace the carb on my Buddy 125. At the risk of advertising it, I've got my eye on this carburetor on eBay. Looks pretty good, right? Only problem is that the part number is just slightly different than the official PGO part number. Here's my email exchange with the seller

Me:
I am curious about the part number for this carb. Looks like this one is C21510030004, but the stock replacement for the Buddy 125 is C21510010004. Any chance you know the difference? If any?
Seller's response:
Hey, the computer said it's the part number for a buddy 125 carburetor. If anything the only difference is the jetting for the 150 and it's completely different than the 50 cc carb and the 170i buddy's are fuel injected, so they don't have a carb. Most probably, that's the original part number for the carb, and it has since been replaced by another one. I bought a whole bunch of parts and am trying to sell them. Thanks for looking.
So in short, the official part number of the Buddy's carb is C21510010004 but the one on eBay is off by a single digit: C21510030004.

Does you think it matters? Should I pull the trigger on this? I know that I can buy a stock carb from Scooterworks for $226, but thought maybe I can save a little by going with eBay.

Buy the carb then take it apart and compare the jets with your current carb, and swap as necessary. Better yet, order a carb through a genuine dealer!
