New Hooligan

My Buddy 50 now has a big brother 2015 Hooligan. Thanks to all Genuine friends' postings that helped me decide Hooligan 170i instead of Buddy 170i. Also, AF1 racing parts website has exploded parts views that gives a lot of good info. for comparison. Viney rightly pointed out that a paper filter should not be a deal breaker. And Sad Buddy-No oil due to filter leak removes a potential mishap with the Hooligan that has no filter. I was concerned that since the oil filter on the Buddy 170i is on the oil cooler housing that the Hooligan had no oil cooler. But it does, as clearly shown in exploded parts views. Also, the extended tranny case is not just a bolt-up to the engine cases but an integral unit. The left crankcase half is cast with the tranny backplate. The details of the entire scooter are well engineered with quality finishes. This Hooligan scooter is a real sleeper. And the Dealer real GENUINE.

Enjoy your new Hooligan it is a great bike. Not that it matters, but there is no screw on or paper oil filter. This has been the topic of an earlier discussion

I change my oil frequently so this is not a problem for me.

Recommended on my SYM HD200 (which alson had only a screen) was every 1000 miles. I used Royal Purple and changed it every 1500 or so.

I've heard that changing out the clutch springs really makes the Hooligan accelerate better. It seems the stock ones can be anemic.

How often? Which brand?
I change it every 800 miles with Castrol1 4T 10W40. I can get it the local auto parts store and so far so good.

Without having to change a filter it's pretty cheap insurance.

I'm actually surprised that a liquid-cooled 171cc bike that is tip=top IMHO would not have a filter. That seems strange.

I'm also surprised. However, if I remember correctly my 1965 Honda Super Cub did not have a filter either. I think they sold millions of them.

Well if you ever get sick of changing the oil, I'll trade you a 2013 roughhouse straight across lol ;p

Sweet!, glad to see you got one. Its my favorite under 200cc scoot out there!
