I was killing some time on Saturday at my local Pep Boys and ran into their motorsports section. The first scooter I saw was this
I put my hand on the handlebars and I noticed that it sagged. So I wiggled it. The handlebars were loose and woobling. Not safe. It felt extremely cheap.
They also had another scooter that was the size of the Honda Metropolitan. Something seemed weird about the headlight. So I put my hand on it and it FELL OFF! Yikes! It was missing 4 screws that held the light in.
I decide to run out of there quickly before they thought that I had anything to do with these problems.

Heck I was the General Manager at a Pepboys for several years. When that started carrying that crap (and other non-auto related junk) I quit and went to work for Firestone. Those junk scooters were the laughing stock of the company!! (field emplyees that is)
Sadly, people still buy those scooters -- a friend who works for Pep Boys says they're hot sellers. Once again, people don't understand the difference between a $2000 scooter and an $800 scooter. Plus, Pep Boys has no after-sale support... I could go on and on, but everybody here knows the spiel.
