I've scooted in Barcelona and Capri previously. My wife just returned 2 weeks ago from a biking trip in Palma de Mallorca. Welcome aboard!

Thanks to you all for such a warm welcome to this forum!

I'm from Alicante, concretely from a town called Alcoy (not Malice ). Unfortunately i'm 1300 km away from home, I'm living in Italy and my 2 "babies" are in Spain, always waiting i will ride them again.

Here in Spain there are a lot of Vespa Club's that are periodically programming rallies, meetings. For example last month, there was the 15th anniversary of the Scooter Club Madrid, there were people around the country, participated to a 2 days party, riding the streets of Madrid, visiting the railway museum, concerts in the evening and of course Vespa's, Lambretta's and LML's (Genuine).

I belong to probably one of the oldest clubs in Spain, dated information is 1958. The founder passed away last year but his son is member of the re-founded Vespa Club Alcoy (dated in 2013).

With the openning up to new markets(, the arrival of new motorcycles with better perfomance and "at that moment" more attractive for the young customers, the Vespa sales started to fall and finally the Vespa production in Spain (Motovespa Madrid was the factory with Piaggio license) would end in the 80's decade. The same happened i think with many clubs, like ours.

Today we are more than 30 members and it seems people are dusting off their Vespas, and we start to see more and more of them riding again...were waiting another opportunity.

So...i hope to meet some of you if you will decide to come in holidays near me, we have a beautiful sea, the mediterranean sea.

Kind regards,

Saludos!

greetings Cangurito,

my first moto was a Montesa. my family would vacation in Llavaneras from the 60's to the early 70's.

I remember the Fiat (Seat) was mfgd in España, but had no idea Vespa was as well.

Greetings Tony,

Yes, indeed there was also Lambretta production in Eibar. Montesa is one of my favourite motorcycles, I'm dealing to buy a Cota 348. There were other important manufacturers like Bultaco, Ossa, Rieju, Derbi, Motor Hispania... most of them have dissapeared or were absorbed by others, for example Derbi is part of Piaggio group and Montesa belongs to Honda.

Nice to meet you, Tony!
