Modern Buddy

I have a 06 Buddy 125 and recently I've been having issues where I will be riding and all of a sudden my gas gauge will not register going from full to empty then a few minuets later it will register again. How easy of a fix is a buddy gas gauge, the Stella was uber easy to fix so I'm trying to decide if it's even worth tearing into...

I had a similar problem with my Blur gas gauge. The problem was the level sensor itself that is in the gas tank. The sensor uses a contact arm with a float that sweeps across a set of fixed electrical contacts very much like a wire wound resistor. As the fuel level changes, the contact arm with it's float makes contact with a different set of fixed contacts. This in turn changes the electrical signal the gas level meter sees. The contacts on mine were very dirty so after cleaning them with a bit of solvent and a fine Scotchbrite pad, my fuel level gauge works better than it ever has.

The first picture is a shot of my Blur's fuel tank. Circled in red is the fuel level sensor. The Buddy shouldn't be all that different. The second picture is the fuel level sensor removed from the fuel tank. The third picture is the area circled in red that I cleaned to restore the fuel gauge function. Hope this is useful info.
No, I didn't disassemble my scooter just to prove my point. I needed to clean out my fuel tank because I let old gas sit in my tank for 5 years because the engine died so my Blur sat unused for all that time.
