Trivial Question about the NCY Adjustable Shock
What is that little bud thing near the top with the place for a small allen wrench? Thought maybe it's where they put in the nitrogen or maybe just bling. Doesn't mention it on the box but it doesn't really matter beyond my curiosity because I know the damping adjustment is at the bottom. Anyway, put mine on last night but the roads were soaked (again) & tonight I got home too late to ride. Hoping I can try it tomorrow night. Put in Dr. Pulley 13 gram sliders last night too. Putting in the deadlight kit this Saturday & maybe 20 weight fork oil. Just need more time to ride. Life is too short for 13 hour work days.

Finally got time tonight for a test ride. (busy week) Short version: Problem, but fixed. Long version: Started it up & about 15 seconds of idling I hear a slow buzzing sound, gets louder then it's a racket & I shut it off. WTH? Really wanted to ride so I took the Metro out for an hour. Came home, took off the variator cover about 3:00 am, looked at the slider weights...hmmmm all is good. Expected to find a mess in there. Then I notice shiny spots on the fins, about 1/2" from the outer edges but no actual damage. And nicks on the screws inside the front of the variator cover. Bingo! The sliders were doing their job. They allowed the variator to widen just a bit more, which made the fins contact those screws. The screws hold a piece of stamped metal on. Not sure why it's there, the Honda doesn't have one. So I took it off along with the screws. Put the cover back on but didn't ride it again because it's late now. Maybe tomorrow. Optimistic about those weights now. Probably going to have a little more pull off the line with the wider variator spread. If anyone knows what that piece of stamped metal is for, let me know. A little curious why it's there. Update: started it up without the cover. Outer piece slowly unscrewed & fell off. That's why the fins were hitting the screws. Back on now with blue threadlocker. Will try again tomorrow.
