Did you go through Corvallis? It's such a nice town. What speed did you ride at on those back roads? I find that I'm most comfortable with going 45 mph tops. I'd like to tour a bit but don't like to have to ride faster than what feels safe.

Followed this route, generally, from Portland down south:

99E to Canby, then back roads through Silverton, Sublimity, Stayton, Scio, Crabtree, and Brownsville. Crossed over I-5 and down N Coburg Road into Eugene.

The route was very scenic and the roads were smooth. No traffic at all!

On the return trip I took 99W most of the way through Corvallis and Amity and then cut over to Dundee/Newberg back to PDX.

I have ridden that route from Portland (Oregon City) to Eugene a couple of times on a scooter. As you say, scenic and enjoyable. Lot's of good scooter routes in the rural Willamette Valley.

what speed where you riding at for the most part?

On the way down to Eugene I didn't notice any wind and there wasn't any traffic. I was taking it easy and stopping to take breaks, pictures, and fuel up. For the most stretches I was cruising about 50+ mph.

On the way back up I chose a more direct route and wanted to travel quicker. There was more traffic for stretch north of Corvallis until the turn off (I didn't take) to Salem. I was pushing my Buddy at WOT. There was a crosswind at times that slowed me down. Otherwise, the Buddy was indicating 60-67 bmph most of the way.
