Hooligan rpm

I have never seen the gauge go over 8,000 rpm. Is the engine limited in any way?

Maybe this explains my poor top speed (53 +/- wind speed).

8K is pretty much the redline for a GY6 style engine unless you do some serious modding.

I just rode a Sym Cabo 150 for 3 days and almost 800 miles testing it out for a dealer friend. I saw top speeds of 67mph once when drafting on the highway. Average speed was 60 WOT. Are you telling me that the Hooligan with the bigger engine and EFI wouldn't go faster?

My Hooligan (now) goes an indicated 67-69 which is closer to 61 to 63 actual. My Hooligan used to only go about 63 indicated.
It has picked up speed with more break in miles (see my other recent post).
We also own a Lance/Sym Havana Classic 150 which is the same engine as the Cabo 150. The Hooligan is a couple mile an hour faster.

The Cabo speedo is waaaaaaaaaaay off actual speed.

We have a Lance dealer right down the street now, and the owner has been trying to get me to take a PCH or a Cabo out for a spin, 50 and 150cc models. If I do I will gps the speed with my phone for actual mph. I have been tempted to get a Cabo myself, the 150 version, but I also know how durable Genuine products are. I love having a kickstart (Cabo) but also like EFI (Hooligan). Genuine has more accessories, Lance not so much. Choices are tough sometimes. Maybe a top speed run will help make the decision.

If you do end up getting a Cabo, I highly recommend going for the 150 (which it sounds like you would be anyways). We had nothing but problems with the Cabo 50s we had, but the 150s seem to be riding well for people!

I check the CARB Executive orders page often, to see what's coming this year and next on the two-wheeled world. Alliance has "200cc" (169) versions of the line planned for next year. It'd be nice of they used the same engine as in the HD200, but I'm sure it will be air cooled.
