Modern Buddy

I came across a discussion on here where someone mentioned whitewall rings. I just have a few questions about them.

How exactly do they work? Are they stuck on to the tire with some kind of adhesive?

Is there a certain tire they work best with?

Has anyone here had any experience with whitewall rings?

I have - with a Ural. They are not glued to the tire. They are just held in place by the air pressure of the tire. In my experience, they actually worked fine. The only catch - to the degree there was one - you could only use them once. New tire, or a remounted tire, and you needed a new set of rings.
