Help diagnosing a problem

Post by kenniepark »

Hi all,

Please help me diagnose a problem! I have a 150cc Italia that doesn't start properly. I park it and stand it up with the kickstand and it only starts if I take it off the kickstand and put it back up. Also it turns off every once in a while - usually when I make a sharp turn or go over a sharp bump.

I had a spring tuning done (oil change, transmission clean) from Scooters Go Green (Boston) a couple months ago and the problem still persists. Any suggestions as to what's going on?

Thanks!

Sounds like the carburetor float level is too low. Have a shop check it to verify and adjust it.
Some people can break a crowbar in a sandbox.

That could be anything, drop by your shop and let them take a look at it.

Sounds to me like a loose wire moving around and either causing an intermittent short, or a temporary loss of ground.

Check the battery terminals and see if they are tight.

I would pick up some K100 carb cleaner and run some through it. It can't hurt. Also, find the drain on the carb and empty it.

See if that gets you anywhere first.

Didnt early Buddies have the wire loom that got pinched by the seat or something? I tried to find the thread to reference it but I had no luck. Not that long ago someone had the same basic problem. Will search again.....
