Buddy150cc front panel wiring info?

Post by pink09 »

Hi. I apologize if this info is already on this forum somewhere, but so far I've looked around a bit and can't find much.
I am trying to fix the front panel wiring on my 150cc Buddy, (as it was messed up when stolen). I found the wiring diagram, which is great, but was wondering if anyone has made a forum on more of the details involved in troubleshooting which wires might be messed up/ putting them back where they belong/etc so that I can start the scooter with an ignition,(has a new ignition in it)...
For example, is there any forum that shows pics along with the process?, or just more detail on which colors go to which switch and easy ways to deduce which ones don't work...

Thanks, any help is appreciated!

For example, can someone answer this...?

For example, here's what my poor scooters wiring looks like now...
Think its fixable?

I was kick starting it for about a year, but that has worn out. I put a new carb in it and some other stuff. I put a new ignition in it, but it still didn't work. I jumped the starter relay to try and troubleshoot it and that started the scooter, so I replaced the starter relay thinking that's what it was. For some reason, after replacing the starter, it now doesn't start- and wont even start when jumping the starter. I also checked output on battery and alls good. So, I'm left thinking its some kind of twitchiness in the front panel wiring, (or possible back)? As you can see, the wiring has been pretty messed up. (It also has been rewired a bit to add a secret button switch that bypassed the ignition at one point- thats where the red n blue wires go).

Any suggestions?

In all honesty, the easiest and best thing to do will be to replace the harness. The harness itself isn't expensive as long as none of the electrical components were fried.

Yeah you'll have to remove the body, but it's a Buddy. It's easy. Replacing the harness is plug and play.

Thanks, yeah I was thinking that too. I'm probably still going to try fixing it myself, at least 1st, as messy as it looks it was working for awhile, so I'm thinking that it might just be 1 or 2 faulty switches or wires. (Plus I've already poured so much money into it). Someone mentioned that I should check the kill switch, as that could be preventing it from starting with the ignition. Any suggestions?

Also, regarding the harness installment, does anyone know how to do that? Or if there is any instructions on here that go into that at all? Even if it's basically plug n play, I'd rather follow some semblance of directions. And does the wiring harness have to be for the exact same scooter, or can it be a 125cc for example? (I'm not finding it on The Scooter Lounge or Monster Scooterparts for a 150cc Buddy).
For example, would this work?

Thanks!

Outta money, and all I got is time.... :)
