OK, so with all the talk about helmets and safety I've got a bit of a different question.

I have a KBC VR-1X full face helmet. I love it. It's pretty quiet, fits great, and the vents are decent.

But if I ride for anything more than 10 minutes, I get a waffle forehead. I'm not talking about hotspots- I can ride for and hour and it's super comfortable. But the liner is this large mesh material and it puts this waffle pattern on my forehead which don't go away for quite some time.

Do all helmets do this? Is it more specific to certain types of helmets depending on the type of liner they use? Do those little silk helmet liner skull cap things help?

How long have you had the helmet? Over time, the padding does compress. Don't know if this will help with wafflehead, though.

You know those little spuare indents in your waffle-head? You need to fill them with syrup.

Hay, I had the same problem- I got a helmet that fits good, but the mesh was a little interesting. Being a savvy sewer I went to my local fabric store and bought a scrap of cotton fabric (it was a soft cotton mix) and covered the forehead and sides of the mesh padding. Now if your dangerous with a needle, or havn't patched so much as a hole in your jeans, they make fabric glue. If you can see a bottle of glue withouth tasting it (like ralph on the simpsons)- your out of luck- but if you can resist, its a quick fix to waffling, and you can customize the interior of your helmet.
Ps. unless you remove anything- this doesnt interfere with helmet safety.

that's a great idea. I'll probably do the fabric glue thing. Not so good with needles.

Yeah that's the one I was looking at. But I don't like reading that it "helps keep you warmer" for the heat. But for under $5, I'll probably get it and also look into putting some fabric on the helmet liner itself.

i've worn it a lot in the summer too and its not really a stocking cap, its thin nylon more like a womans pantyhose type of fabric... not sure why it says keeps warmer, in the summer to me it actually keeps my head from sweating...

Ok good- I kind of thought it would actually help with the heat. And any chance to put pantyhose on my head is good by me, ha ha.

I think wearing pantyhose on your head whilst on a scooter isnt a bad Idea- just dont walk into a convience store with it on- or they'll call the cops
