What's Next?
I sold my AZ scoot '12 170i Buddy Italia on Saturday as its relatively small frame and 10" wheels and tires just weren't cutting it on the crappy roads in and about the NW Tucson/Oro Valley area that I'm living in. Now, I'm thinking of something bigger with more fuel capacity so I can do some serious touring further into SE Arizona. I want to stay with EFI as the scooter will be stored here in Tucson when I'm back home in Seattle. 15" wheels and tires would be ideal. My 82 yo legs can handle up to 325 lbs. and engine size 200 - 250cc would likely do the job. I would prefer to buy new to get full warranty coverage but a late model, like new scoot would also work.
Any recommendations?

Unless you're tall, then you'll hate it. The Kymco GT300 is so cramped that 6'3" (34" inseam) me could barely fit in it.
I don't know if there is a dealer in Tucson anymore, and it may not be injected, but I highly recommend the SYM HD200. Large wheels, water cooled, runs like most 250's, solid bike.

The Sym HD200 is a great scoot. Honest 70 mph liquid-cooled scoot. I have come very close to buying one 3 times now. Timing is everything.

HD200 is an incredible scooter. If you're patient you can find a good used one for a grand. A fellow I ride with has a Kymco 300gti he bought new. At 15 ,000 miles it spent 6 months at the dealer while they dicked around on a fuel injection issue. It ate up his 1/4 of his warranty while it was in the shop. At 20,000 miles the motor imploded. He picked up an $800 HD200 to ride the first time his Kymco broke. The HD 200 is his regular bike now. I owned one for a little over a year. Very fast and smooth. I didn't like the seat, so I reshaped it. The SYM is easy to work on. You have to pay close attention to the cooling system and the fuel tank venting. I sold my SYM because I could never get use to the crotch rocket styling of the scooter. I'm a fan of the vintage steel look. I replaced it with a Kymco Like. Boy was that a mistake. Fuel injection is fine when it's working correctly. I do believe I prefer the simplicity of a carburetor.

I think you're worrying too much, sir. I put an additional 12K on my P200 riding around southern AZ with no issues. My Yager is more than up to the job as well. Heck, only time it felt uncomposed was fording streams down near Parker Canyon Lake...and scooters really weren't designed to be fording streams!
I'd remark on the RV200, but it is 340-ish pounds and the front tire is only 13". If you can live with that tire size, how about an S MAX? They're beastly for 155cc!
Barring all that, I'd agree on the HD200. Big wheel scooters aren't exactly my cup of tea, but it's a handsome and well-built machine.

At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

I do like the Yamaha SMAX but there don't seem to be any in the Tucson area. Back to the Kymco People 300, Sccot Over in Tucson has a 2012 on consignment at $2500 but I'm not sure if it's EFI or carbureted. It's now $1900, has 4500 miles on it and has EFI. Not a bad price! That People's off the table. A friend called me Friday to have me try and talk him out of buying it. I figured I was making headway until he took my recommendation of taking a longer ride to ensure that he could live with it on the highway and that seat fatigue wouldn't be an issue. He liked it even more after that.
He may be selling his GT200 soon. It may not be the prettiest thing on two wheels, but it's in good order and can tour quite well.

So I noticed. I drove to Scoot Over this past Friday to check it out only to be told it was out for a test drive. Guess I shouldn't have broadcast its availability. Bill, your broadcast wasn't the catalyst in this case. John had taken a day off and went by ScootOver to visit. Ron put him onto the People. I didn't know he was looking until he'd taken it out for his first test-ride. Apparently, he feels he's outgrown the GT200's capabilities.skipper20 wrote:So I noticed. C'mon, She's not that bad looking! I think the combination of Neo Graphite body and Silver accents to be appealing.
Scoot Over is taking care of a couple dents for me and will be putting the legshield trim on, That should improve the cosmetics...

Go for it as I decided to buy new and bought one of their 2015 Hooligans. The titanium one with the Prima windscreen. They were very generous on my Kymco trade-in and reduced the MSRP on the Hoolie plus gave me the windscreen at no-charge so it was a very nice buying experience.
