Wrong Oil

I purchased a Tangerine Buddy 125 in April. I'm a girl and wanted to do everything right so I actually read the entire manual AND made a crib sheet of the different fluids I would need. The manual calls for 15/30 oil. I wrote that down, went to the store, bought the oil. This morning before my ride I checked the oil and it was low (I only have 100 miles on it). So, I added oil. As I'm adding it I see the little sticker above the spout referencing 15/30. As I put my oil container down I glance at it and see it is 10/30. Yikes. Do I need to drain the oil before I ride it again?
Thanks so much for helping on this!

Don't even start the scoot. Drain the oil and the gear oil and replace with the correct oil*.
*Just kidding. Even filing with 10/30 wouldn't hurt the engine, especially in summer.

I run cheap Wally World Tech 2000 10-40 oil in our Buddy 125. You will be fine with the 10-30. Fun Fact: When I got my first new Buddy 125 I could not find 15-30 oil, so when I asked the dealer they said they use 05-30. So, I figured if I ran 10-30 it should be fine because its in the middle! Got just under 40,000 miles on that first Buddy 125, and around 15,000 on our current Buddy 125. All from 10-30 in summer and 10-40 in winter.

Actually the manual for my '07 Buddy 125 says the recommended lubricant is 15W40. Makes sense if you consider Taiwan has a fairly warm climate. I'd guess that 10W30 would be just fine in most parts of the US (like the Olympic Peninsula

).

Well, BV350 had me hyperventilating there for a split second but I recovered by the end of the entry!
And, Dooglas, I must be dyslexic and you are correct, the manual calls for 15/40. How could I be so wrong when I'm trying to be so right!
Sc00ter, I never expected that a scooter odometer went that high! I'm impressed and inspired.
Thanks to all of you so much for your helpful comments! I'm riding with a clear conscience and a smile on my face here under Sequim's Blue Hole!

That would be Sequim's "blue hole" as the driest spot on the O Peninsula, right? I have a retired customer who retired there from Reno for the "blue hole" and "holistic" culture.
You'll find 15-40 hard to find outside of diesel engine lube. I use 10-40 synthetic in my Buddy with no issues.

Same here, I run a good 10w40 all the time. I have never had any oil related issues. 1030 will be fine. I would go with 10-40 next time.but no worries
