Snowflake Oil Filter Wrenches

Post by Dibber »

I saw these tools in Modern Vespa. The Snowflake Oil Filter Wrench either slotted or hex and priced nicely. See them in www.oopsclunkthud.com or check out Modern Vespa site titled Snowflake Oil Filter Wrench. I would have copied it to this message, but don't know how. Sorry!

Neat idea and great design, but you simply can NOT put enough torque on a Buddy oil filter using only your hand. Every time we've seen a buddy filter come off a motor it was because the customer tightened it "by hand then gave it an extra 1/4 turn with a wrench". We use a wrench and we put them on TIGHT (16 ft lbs.). I know we couldn't replicate that torque by hand, even with that nifty snowflake device.

Pocphil, what tool do you use to torque the slotted oil filters with? Now that I own 2 of the slotted filters.
