Modern Buddy

Has anyone installed handlebar weights at the ends of their handlebars on a Buddy? If so, if you take off the grips, is there a threaded insert inside the ends of the bars to screw in a bolt to hold the weights on?

The handlebars on the Buddy are just hollow/open on the ends. Bar-end weights and mirrors have an expansion plug that wedges themselves in the bar when a bolt on the end of the weight is tightened.
