Brought my brand new Buddy 50 home with me today (a Thanksgiving weekend present to myself).

Dealer said to use only the best synthetic 2 stroke oil that I can find.

Your (very experienced) recommendations, please??

Many thanks!

I'd consider using dino oil for the first 1500-odd miles for the cylinder break-in period. After that, there's a myriad of synthetic oil options.

Personally, I like Motul 710 for my 2T bikes as the ester component gives a little extra insurance against seizing due to its film-forming qualities. I also like how cleanly it burns; it doesn't coke up my engines like some other oils have.

Agree with the dino break in route.

I also like Motoul especially for kitted bikes.

Oil selection can be very subjective. Generally if you use a good quality synthetic 2T oil everything should be fine. It's generally better to pick an oil and stick with it instead of switching around to different brands.

Anything JASO FC or FD rated is what's required by Genuine.

Bel-Ray "Scooter" Semi-Synthetic is a good, affordable choice that is FD rated.

The engine will break in just fine on synthetic oil.
Motul and Red Line, but as noted, this is subjective. Red Line is right up the road and I like to help the local economy. I've been using it for years with no undo carbon build up issues.
