can you put a side-car on a Buddy?
if so, are they permanently attached or removable?
are they expensive?

Not to be rude or anything, but you can put a sidecar on anything. All depends on how much work your willing to do.

Now the sidecars you see on the Vespa, Stella, and Bajaj (SW & Cozy) will not be an easy bolt on bolt off install. Infact without heavy welding to the tube frame of the buddy it will be hard to mount anything to that scooter.

And sidecars are not cheap - base models your looking $1600-1800 plus install.

Come on.

Hey, if you can put a sidecar on a Stella and make it go, I reckon you can definitely put one on a Buddy.

Would one need to modify the transmission, though? It does seem like it'd be a lot of extra weight. :?:

Yeah, but they don't go very fast. If it's stock.. You'll be lucky if you can hit 40 MPH.

Better idea: Trailers. Do they make them?

Ever ride in a side car? It is fricking terrifying!!! A friend at college had a BSA with a side care. He rode reasonably fast. Imagine you are tucked into a pod, no bumpers, no control and no easy way out. You are realy just along for the ride.

That being said. I saw a Vespa with a side car, and it looked really cool. I wouldn't mind having one, but there isn't a chance in hell that I would ride in one again...

BTW, it is a bit strange riding a bike/scooter with one. Turn right ( assumes side car on right side) and you have to almost skid the rear wheel out to make a fast turn. To turn left you have to get the side car's wheel off the ground. This would be a real problem on the buddy, as I don't think the frame could support the load of the flying side car.

Personally owning a Vespa, Stella and a 44 BMW R75 motorcycle with sidecar (plus installing some 10+ sidecars on Stella and Bajaj scooters) you have that backwards.

The scooter no longer leans into turns so you turn like a car. If a sidecar is on the right side sharp right turns can bring the tire up as the force and momentum is pushed to the rear left side.

But you can mount a sidecar or a trailer to anything if your willing to do the work but I dont htink the buddy is the right platform to do it though. If you really want a scooter with sidecar you shoudl really look into a metal body like the Vespa P/PX series, Stella or Bajaj

So this is the point in the conversation
where you ask me if I'd like a ride home.

- It is?
- Yep.

Would you like a ride home?

Fine. But I'm not
getting in that sidecar.

- Why not?
- Sidecars are for bitches.

Anyone who rides in that
is automatically your bitch.

Thus, I will ride
on the back.

ditto. Great tunes.

But I also agree with the sentiment: sidecars are kinda like riding a rocket car without steering or brakes.
