Modern Buddy

I am looking to replace the 2 front wheel bearings on my Buddy 150. I see that the PGO (96520620100) are type 6201U bearings. I have no idea what this refers to but it seems like this is a generic bearing size and type description. Can I just buy a Honda 6201U and be all set? Is 6201 the same as 6201U?

Any suggestions for a lower priced alternative to OEM?

All 6201 bearings should be the same size, 12x32x10mm. I suspect the "U" on the end of the P/N you show is put there by Honda. The eBay listing you show also looks like something that's been sitting on a shelf for a very long time. This is actually a very common size and if you Google it you'll come up with dozens of suppliers with dozens of prices. Don't buy the cheap China made ones I see being sold for something like $12 for qty. 10.

These are available in three different configurations, open cage, shielded, and rubber sealed. What you want is the rubber sealed version, P/N 6201-2RS. Buy a reputable brand such as Timken and SKF. Here are a couple I found on Amazon:

Edit 9/12/2019: I just noticed that those OEM Honda bearings are being sold for a very reasonable price and includes shipping from the UK so I would say go for it. If you're nervous about how long they've been sitting letting the grease dry out, you can always ask the seller how old they are. Worse comes to worst, it isn't all that hard to remove the rubber seals and repack them with fresh grease then reinstall the seals.

Big fan of Timken- that's what I have in my Land Cruiser.
