Ok, so its that time of year again for scooterists to take over the streets of Kansas City. See the website for what we are cooking up for this year, and check out pix of past rallys.

Tornado R'Alley is one of the Midwest's larger rallys. Last year was nearly 100 participants, this year we're planning to exceed that! Good times had by all. All scooters invited. Automatic. Geared. Vintage. Modern.

We're planning on coming down from Minnesota and were curious if there are nice close to the action campgrounds we could stay at for the weekend. Got any suggestions?

Well, there really arnt too many campgrounds that are within an hour ride of the metro. Here is one I have found that is probably a 20min ride to our rendezvous point. I havent been there to see it in person, so I cant say for certain if it is a nice place or not.

Thanks Monza,
We're still trying to figure stuff out. We may very well just go to the main hotel too. We still have some time to plan. I am looking forward to it. Never traveled to a rally before so I am super excited to ride in a new location!

If anybody needs a place to crash, my roommate and I have room for 2 or 3 people. We live in Overland Park and close to where the rides will start.

PM me for info!

Raffling off a rebuilt 74 Vespa smally with low miles and custom bits.

So, come, MEET YOUR MAKER and join me and the Mad Toto's as we shoot up this town GANGSTA style.

I live down the block from this place, and it's a nice quiet little RV place. If you're thinking of tent camping it won't work.

We are going to be staying at the double tree in overland park. Is this going to suck for getting to/from events?

Not at all. Nice suburban area. You can take Antioch to 87th and into downtown Overland Park where Scooterworld is located. It's about 10 minutes, I reckon. Just did that exact ride yesterday as a matter of fact (part of a much longer ride). The hotel is in a really nice office park called Corporate Woods (no kidding), so make sure you ride through it - lot's of twisties and traffic circles. I think a lot of events are going to start there, and if not, there will be riders meeting there to get down to the events.

In the last two years scoots have become very common in this area of the metro and there are a lot of motorcycles. Drivers are used to sharing the road, though I'm not sure that translates into more safety.

BTW, I don't know if people are finding this all over the country, but it seems there are pockets out there where scoots are more popular. There are other parts of the city where I don't see them at all. Judging from the boards, it looks like Minnesota has a lot, but when I go to St. Louis I hardly ever see one (strickly anticdotal evidence). Just an observation.

I won't be proficient enough to participate this time around unfortunately. I'll have had my scooter for a week at the most.

You'd better bet I'll be up for camping in September though!

Thanks KCscooterdude! That info helps a lot. I was afraid we would be in the middle of nowhere. I looked at a map, but I didnt really know what it translated to.
Scoots are becoming very popular here in Minnesota. We have several clubs going with lots of members. On a nice day cruising the parkways I always run into other scoots. Especially now that spring is maybe finally here we should see even more out there.

I just cleaned the SI's white walls. Rubber is primed for a quick getaway.

Those that have attended any of the previous Tornado Rallys know, WE RIDE. That doesn't change this year.

The MAD TOTO's are ready to show everyone a great weekend on scoots.

Well, HELLO, Mr. Vick. Welcome to the Neighborhood.

Got to see the raffle bike yesterday.

DAMN, somebody is going to win this thing for a dollar.

74 Vespa smally with a 135 Malossi and a snail pipe. Professional paintjob, no rattle cans on this beauty.

Hope to see many of you at TORNADO RALLY IV.

I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. CHECKED ON THE KIDS LATELY?

CONGRATULATIONS to Kent of the ALL MOD CONS from the TwinCities for winning the raffle bike.

We ended up with 121 paid attendees. At least 109 scoots. IN KANSAS, no less.

Hope to see you next year. We Mad Toto's tore it up, I must admit.

Lovin my Blue 5.0 Corazzo that I won in the raffle.

This could become the Sturgis of the Scooter set. Wonder how many people will trailer their scoots to the rally ?
