Experience with motorcycle ride events?
We have a charity motorcycle ride event coming up and I am thinking of signing up. Does anyone know if scooters are generally welcome in these kind of events? Welcoming/Hostile/Indifference?

Go with the attitude that this is a charity event and that you are delighted to see anybody who's there to support the charitable cause. That said, the best way to enjoy such an event is with a group of friends. So, feel free to use this board, and the bulletin board at your local scooter shop, and your local scooter club etc etc to find some friends to ride with you.sparty wrote:We have a charity motorcycle ride event coming up and I am thinking of signing up. P.S. All the charity rides I've done were all about being able to ride very slowly, which is something the Buddy does extremely well. Try not to make the motorcyclists too jealous.

Main thing is find out the route they will be taking and see what the posted speeds are going to be. Aslong as your not "slowing down" the group anything on 2 or 3 wheels are usally welcome.sparty wrote:We have a charity motorcycle ride event coming up and I am thinking of signing up. Back in May I "forced" myself onto the local American Legion Riders procession from the American Legion Hall (of which I'm a member) down to the cemetary for a Memeorial Day service. I didn't tell them what I was riding until they'd already agreed to my presence...they were all Harley riders. I ended up riding my yellow/black Bajaj right in the middle of all the Harleys. The comment to me was; "Just try to keep up", which the Bajaj did easily in town. Some of the guys grinned, some sported a look of distaste and some refused to acknowledge me. But I was there whether they liked it or not. I have a scooter based blog at skutergruven dot blogpot dot com that tell that story in detail...along with many of my other rides.

I just came back from a motorscycle event, and it was a blast! The entire 80 miles trip was under 55 mph, and I had no trouble keeping up with the pack at all. The other cycles did out run me after a slow turn, due to Buddy's weaker acceleration. Some guy told me that I have some balls to go there I am looking forward to another one in two weeks.

I think I may have spotted your group on I 95 around 11:30AM! I was on my way to pick up my Buddy from Scooter Centrale just outside of Hartford and my husband and I saw the huge line of motorcycles careening their way southbound on I 95.
Glad things worked out so well for your ride today. Good for you!!
