Does a 125cc engine bolt into a 50cc frame?

Hello fellow buddy fans. I've scoured the forums for info on this, and have come up empty. If you know please chime in. Can I bolt a Buddy 125cc engine into a Buddy 50 frame? I picked up a fairly low mileage complete 125 last month. It has a clean VIN, keys and owner's manual, but no title. I can part it out and place the engine under my work bench for when my Buddy hits 35,000 and needs a new motor. Or, maybe I can find a 50 with a blown engine, and swap the 125 into it. Can it be done? Have any of you done this? Thank you in advance.

I believe there was a thread about putting a 125cc engine in a 50cc frame on here somewhere, but it was a few years ago and the search function doesn't work for those old threads most of the time.

From what I remember the Buddy 50 and Buddy 125 frames are different. I think it was the crossbar that sits right in front of the valve cover on the 125 frame. On the 50cc frame that crossbar will hit the 125cc engine.
After looking at the pictures the mounting setup is different. The rear shock mounting point is probably the same. But I could be wrong since I am looking at black and white drawing.

Thank you Erik. That's the information I was looking for. I have two C3s sitting here. Maybe I put the Buddy 125 engine into one of them.

First of all, can you get a bonded title for the Buddy in CO?
I got a bonded title in Texas for a few hundred bucks on a 1966 Honda.
Might be a better idea to look for a titled Buddy 125 or titled GY6 150 scoot with a blown engine. They have better brakes.

I'm not interested in turning this into a titled 125. I already have one of those. $120 for plates and initial registration, and $55 per year after that. My Buddy 125 has a top speed that is 7 mph greater than my 50cc Yamaha C3. Getting to that top speed is a whole lot more exciting on the Buddy than the C3. In Colorado, 50cc registration is $5.35 for 3 years with no additional taxes or fees if you buy from a private party. The scooter was a decent deal for a complete parts bike.

After looking these diagrams the engine mounting bolt is the same bolt for each motor, i know the frames and engine mounts are different but cant be too hard to modify to make work

I'm talking with Drew on the FB Buddy page. He has done this, 125 into a 50 frame. He tells me the 50 engine mounts are welded directly over the 125 engine mounts. Once you carefully carve away the 50 mounts, the 125 powerplant will bolt right in. Thank you for the links scootERIK. Looking at them I can see what Drew is talking about. I'm on the lookout for a Buddy 50 w/ a blown engine to let the fun begin.

Dude, if thats the case I might pay more attention to the Buddy 50's when I see them up for sale with blown engines!

I backed off this idea. After getting input from the fellow I know who has successfully completed the swap I decided I don't want the 50 front forks and brakes on a scooter with the 125 engine. I toyed with the idea of cutting off the 50 vin plate and welding it on my 125 frame, but that's a modification I"m not entirely comfortable with.
