an opportunity?????????????????????
I wasn't looking to sell my Nissan Sentra. But today I had an offer of $800 for it. It needs a little work and I have been honest with the guy about what needs to be done to the car (mainly a new axle). Well, I said to my wife, "This would be a good time for me to get a scooter". She said, "Doesn't a scooter cost more than $800". "Well, yeah, they do, but this would definately be a great start". Does it sound as though I need devine inspiration to make a trip to Metro Scooter. NOT. I know, I know. My Nissan gets 44 mpg. But it's not cool. A beautiful red w/ white trim vintage looking scooter would be a great trip for me and would do alot for my midlife thingamabob I got going at this stage in my life. Oh yeah, oil hit $109 a barrel today.

Do it, now.
800 dollars may not buy the scooter, but it will help the price around 2000k.
The buddy I got was 2795$ (2008 orange) but on sale I got it for 2595$ plus tax!
2800$ something after tax.
I'd do it, if the car is new/newish I'd keep the car, but if it's old I'd sell it for 800 dollars, although since I dont know what is wrong with your car, 800 may be too low, for example, if transmission needs work then maybe 800 is ok, but if mechanics work and paint is just dented and dinged slightly, 800 is too low.
Red buddy, white wall sports tires, looks good

$800 for a sentra... even with a bad axle it better be some combo of old and high mileage. I've seen too many of them with 300k+ to ever figure they're done for good. Past their prime, yes. Done, no. But you've got to figure when's the next time someone with $800 is willing to buy your sentra? If it doesn't seem likely sell it.

My car dying was what finally got me out the door to buy a scooter. I had been mulling it over for almost a year- doing the math, doing the research, and finally deciding on the Buddy.
Then when my car died I finally started getting serious- I was still not sure if it would work out (being a 6-wheel family with a toddler), and it took a lot for me to finally sign on the dotted line and it's been great. I've spent $35 in gas since mid-December, learned to combine errands, be more judicious with my driving (although driving the Buddy makes me want to just keep going and going...), and I have no complaints.
So, go for it!

yeah, it has some bad things
at least 250,000 miles. not really sure since the speedometer has not worked since the car got flooded, and I mean over the hood. it has run for about 4 years since. but the car is a 1999 model. clutch has been somewhat cranky since the flood. but it still works. no radio since the flood either. I have run the snot out of the car, and i have nothing bad to say about nissan. but it's time to move on.

any updates hillbilly ? I know I'm pretty quick to bail on a troublesome/needy car, but thats just because I prefer something reliable and for the most part I don't have the money all the time to take it to the shop every time it needs it.
