170i Fuel Pump access?

I burned up the fuel pump on a hot day on my way to work. Doesn't turn on when I click the key. Not a fuse issue and figured out its getting power. Finally got the scooter home and was ready to work on replacing the fuel pump with an aftermarket one. Then I got under the seat bucket and damn...that thing is not as easy to get to as other scoots/machines I have worked on. What is the process for getting at the back of that gas tank? What covers/parts do I have to remove to get there? Trying to weigh if it's worth my effort or would I rather pay to not have to deal with it on this one. Thank you for your time.

It's pretty straight forward once you get into it. Start by removing the seat bucket, grab rail and all the rear shiny plastic parts. Keep track of what screws go where. I get a piece of cardboard and poke holes for the screws, label where you removed them from. You have 3 different sizes of screws back there.

I've pulled that rear end off a Buddy so many times! That is the same procedure as replacing the flimsy rear rack mount plate. Check that plate for cracks while your in there. Oh, and the lower panels that meet up to the shiny panels slide toward the front of the scooter to release them. I broke a tab trying to figure it out the first time, and broke a tab recently again because I forgot about sliding the lowers forward to release them.

You want daunting? Try this on a Yamaha Tmax or large frame Vespa.

Seconded. B400 is a pain. Millions of pop plugs. I'll work on a B650 before I'll work on a B400.

Fuel pump on a Majesty is a pain too. Tank is sandwiched between the upper and lower frame section so removing the Tupperware alone doesn't guarantee pump access.
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...

I had a 2008 Burgman 400. I thought the fuel pump was rather easy to access. Remove two plastic panels, and there the pump is. The part that sucked was the wiring harness connector. The second time I replaced the fuel pump, I split the harness and flipped the connector up top. The 3rd time I replaced it, I didn't have to remove the whole left side to get to the connector. The Tmax uses the same $17 pump as the C3 and Zuma. It took almost 5 hours to complete the job.

The T-MAX is a bit of a pain, as you start dismantling at the taillight and work your way forwards. That said, the Majesty is a lot worse. Even the Morphous is easier.

Not sure if you got resolution in this yet, but I am doing this very job on some friends' 2014 Buddy 170i right now. Fuel pump is locked up due to goo and I'm swapping the pump out with a Quantum pump.
