Hmm. I dunno about it either. Maybe if I hadn't spent the weekend having my headset rattle canned (and front panel) Krylon Blue Hyacinth.
It was gonna be Espressso, but what the heck. There's always more paint.

This fits 2007 and 2008 buddies, the 2006 buddies had a smaller headset.
Nevermind, I found they do have one for 2006 models too

Ehhhh...
Electroplated plastic. You can electroplate plastic? Huh.
They've had these parts and similar ones for the Vespas and other scoots for a while and I've never been a fan. I've seen pics of metal-bodied scoots totally chromed. THAT's bad ass.

Eric,
yes, you can electroplate plastic. On our company, that is 80% of the finish our product has, shiny chrome plastic.
On another thread there were comments regarding the chrome going bad on the new Vespa S gauge cluster. In looking at the picture, the design would promote good plating adhesion to that plastic, so it should last for years. If you follow good design principles for electroplated plastic parts it should last for maaaaany years. Our main customer are GM, FORD and Chrysler, and believe me, they do not want their parts failing for years to come.
However, once you crack the chrome and moisture can get inside, then it will start looking greenish in about 6-12 months. Nothing you can do about it other than strip and rechrome.
This link will take you to see some chromed parts . . . yes, they are all plastic.

What they need to offer is a "chrome" front fender! I'd be on it.

its an old skool thing just like eric said....and much like him, I've never been a huge fan, although some scoots can pull it off, but they are usually old scoots.

You know -- I think I'm going to give this a try. I can always put the original headset back on if things get a little blinding.
