Front Wheel Spin

Post by trevo_man »

Does your front wheel spin freely without any problems? I recently noticed that mine spins fine for about half a revolution (when spun by hand) then gets caught on the brake disc.

It looks as if it is a bit crooked. When I eyeball it while spinning the wheel the edge of the tire gets just a little closer to the brake disc for half a turn (when it gets harder to spin) and further way (when it spins freely).

You may remember last summer when I wrecked buddy into the back of my truck while trying to load it. This severely bent the rim. I have since put a new rim on, but I fear this may mean the forks were tweaked as well.

It is unnoticeable while riding however and doesn't seem to be making any real impact. Is this a real problem that I need to get fixed by the dealer? I don't really have the money for any expensive repairs right now...

hmmm... doesn't sound like it can be good... however, my back tire has some play in it and I've been told it's ok.

but rubbing against the brake can't be a good thing.

Did you do the post-crash repairs yourself?

You should at least call your dealer and tell them what's up. They may need to check the fork and the brakes. This could be a "real problem."

Could be a warped disc. Have your dealer check it out.

I checked mine today before I went for a ride thinking about this post. Mine certainly spins more than 1/2 a revolution. I'd get it checked by the dealer.

Thanks guys! I'm going to take bud down to the dealer later this week. Wish me luck! Hopefully the repair is not TOO costly.
