hopeful for honda

Post by Redrider »

I hope the gas price induced scooter boom prods honda to introduce their European markteted scoots to the US. This model is gorgeous, the SH3001, capable of 90mph with killer looks. I love buddy, but this is a beaut http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFl1jG9m ... re=related

Yeah, you and everybody else. Unfortunately, we've been told very authoritatively that the SH300i won't be coming here. The reason is that the SH300i was designed in Italy for the Italian market and, even more importantly, is actually assembled in Italy. Even if Honda desperately wanted to bring the SH300i to the USA, it would be too expensive due to the devaluation of the US Dollar to the Euro. Even if Honda Italy were to push production of the SH, it would be so expensive that almost nobody could afford it. Sigh... :(

Don't hold your breath. Honda is pulling models from its US line, not adding them. I don't think they really care much about the US scooter market, which may never be big enough for them to pull any resources or attention away from motorcycles and cars.

Their dealers, which usually also sell motorcycles, really don't push the scooters from what I've seen. it takes them just as long to sell a $2,000 scooter as a $6,000 MC...

That said, I like a lot of the Honda scoots available overseas, especially the oddball vintage-meets-modern Eterno from India.

There was some recent discussion of other Hondas, etc. here:
