Covering A Buddy With A Windshield, Topcase, or Basket

I want to ask all you wise folks a quick question.

I don't have a garage and I want to mount something on the back of my buddy and leave it there so I can carry more groceries w/out having to do the whole bungee song and dance of mounting my milk crate to the scooter every time.

Any suggestions on a cover that would fit a buddy in addition to a top-case or milk-crate or basket of some sort?

Thanks for the help!

Perhaps I should re-post this question with a different title???

I'm kinda confused about what you're looking for...

A scooter cover or a larger, more secure container for the rear rack?

There are a lot of scooter covers out there that will fit a loaded Buddy. I have the cheap $10 eBay one, but I also have a garage. For security, you may want one of sturdier material, with grommets at the bottom. You can either run your scooter lock through the holes or get an additional lock to add one more layer of security.

Lots of suggestions in this thread:

Sorry for the confusion. I'm looking for a cover that will cover my buddy when it has a milkcrate of topcase on the back. The one I have now barely fits when there is nothing on the bike, so I assume if I attach something to it like a top case it will not fit at all. I have to cover the bike because I leave it outside and I don't want to leave it exposed to the elements.

I am unfamiliar with the $10 eBay cover but if it fits with a topcase on the bike I will buy one. $10 is just right price wise. :)

Thanks for the help ericalm.

Scooterstud.
I think one of your questions is about a top case or some type of cargo container....
I've attached 2 pics of a basket that I bought at the local bicycle shop for about $15. I just use a few plastic zip ties to attach it to the back rack (bungees would also work). Does the trick for me.

Sorry if I've misunderstood your OP

Thanks ay pablo. I am looking for something like that. I'm currently using a milk-crate bungeed on which works but I'm not particularly happy with it.

I take it that since you have it attached with zip ties you leave it on your bike? Do you ever cover your bike? If so what kind of cover do you use that will cover both the bike and your basket because I don't think mine would work with the basket attached.

Thanks again!

I have a Dowco Guardian cover in medium and it fits fine over my top case, though, I usually don't put it up over it. I kind of cinch it over the rack just before the top case and then over the kick starter on the left and the fan on the right.

I do this because with it over the top case, it makes the cover somewhat of a sail and I live in a windy area. I've read many reports of covers acting like sails and causing scooters to fall. Also, although the cover has a heat resistant panel for covering when the scooter is hot, the panel is really small and I'm afraid of melting the cover.

Thanks, that does look like it would fit a top case easily. This may be just what I've been looking for.

Since I don't have a lot of dough right now I will probably get the cover and start leaving my milkcrate on for the time being. Then when I can afford the topcase I'll already have the cover.

Thanks again!

Yeah and they do have a large size too.

My cover is mainly to prevent the sun from fading my panels, and while I don't want the topcase to fade I'm more concerned with the rest of the scooter so I'm pretty ok with covering it the way I do.
