Replacing OEM Bulbs

Post by ToughHouseRook »

Is there a trick to getting the cover off the OEM lights? i've unscrewed the single screw at the top of both covers and neither one will move an inch. am I forgetting to do a step or something. or are they just really stuck in there?

Starting to get a little frustrated... Thanks for any help!

Which lights?

It just so happens that one of the members here just completed two awesome guides to upgrading lights:

Upgrading Headlight on an '07 or later

I've already replaced those, I'm referring to the two lower lights on the front of the scooter. They come from the factory unwired, I have wired them up and want to replace the stock small bulbs with larger brighter ones.

the trick is to be very very carefull  use a small philips and get that top screw out... then... VERY carefully use a plastic pry or your finger nail or something stiff enough to open the cover but not scratch the paint (insert penis jokes here) then get into the front end on the bottom and gently pry up, this will pop the cover, then pull forward to release the tab... reinstalling is reversed, place the tab in, then push the bottom of the lense in until it snaps.

The bulb looks silly but it's an 1156, nothing fancy. Clearence is an issue so make sure you can close the cover, I can't remember off hand if a regular sized 1156 fit in that spot... I ordered stubby 1156 LED's specifically for that location that work great.

Thanks, I'll try that another day. Where did you find "stubby" LEDs?

From my distributor, I can get some to you for $19.99 shipped and I have one set on hand.
