Modern Buddy

I recently followed theses instructions and replaced the stock bulb with an H4 bulb but it drained my battery after a short trip. I could no longer use the electronic ignition, the horn quit working and the turn signals barely flashed. After replacing the stock bulb everything was back to normal but a few days later the stock bulb burnt out. I replaced it with a new stock bulb which blew after a few moments. Then in order to be able to get my bike back home that night I replaced the 2nd blown stock light with the H4 I still had and the buld did not blow but it drained the battery. Any suggestions?

Have your charging system checked... sounds like something funny going on there. A halogen bulb with a higher wattage at most will overheat the plug or headlight assembly. It should not drain your electrical system.

I got a sylvania silverstar H4 like everyone is recommending and within a few seconds of running the buld blew. I then turned on the bright and it lasted for about 30 minutes before it blew. Why are all my bulbs blowing?

Like Nissanman said (5 days ago)- get your electrical system checked. Sounds like you may have a short or other electrical problem.

Forgive me, but I have to ask this possibly obviously question:

Did you install it without actually touching it and did you wipe it off with alcohol
when it was seated?

They burn so hot that it was recommended that when I installed them
(in my truck) I should have on rubber gloves because any oil from your hands
will shorten the bulb life drastically but certainly shouldn't cause electrical problems in your system.
