New Member in Cleveland, waiting on his buddy

Hi all!!!

Thinking I will be hanging around here a bit as I am waiting for my new red Buddy 125 to come in. Oh, and look at that! The guy I bought it from is a member here, too! Sweet!
Where's my scooter, PoCPhil?!?!? hahaha! Sweet, now I can harass him here and in RL! :D

A bit about me:
I live in Cleveland, Ohio near Phil's shop and work in Westlake as an IT Guy at a law firm. I will put myself on the map shortly. Odd how all the Buddy scooterists on that map live on the westside. What's up with that?!? Not that I am complaining.
I also own a Scooter Rental in Estes Park, Colorado. Zoot Scoot Scooter Rental. http://www.zootscootestes.com
Sadly, it does not yet make enough money for me to quit my 'day job' but I am optimistic in the next 3-5 years that it will. This is year 2 and we are doing pretty well so far. So my partner runs it with some part time help. I was actually there last week and all weekend helping out my partner.
We are an all Honda shop.
We have 2 Big Ruckus:
Image

We had 3, but one was totalled last year.

The rest are Metropolitans. Here's most of that fleet:
Image

The one in the way back is a 1966 totally restored and custom painted Vespa 150cc with less then 300 miles on the rebuilt engine. My partner is trying to sell that. Appraised at $4,400, selling for $4,100. No good pic handy of that.

Here I am sitting at the desk of my shop this past weekend... wishing I didn't have to come back here to work. hehehe

Image

Lastly, a scenic shot featuring my favorite scoot that we have. Her name is Shaheen and here she is in front of Lake Estes:
Image

I think that's about it for now. Looking forward to my Scoot arriving and living the lifestyle. Nice to find a forum dedicated to my new scooter. I'll be around a lot!

Now if this isn't one of the best 'first posts' ever, I don't know what else to do! hehehe

Can't wait to join the scavenger hunt!!

A++ on first post...great photos!

Just curious...you thinking of integrating in the Buddy 50cc into your rental troop?

Thanks!

Not sure about that. Absolutley open to the idea, though. Particularly if I love my Buddy, which I am assuming I will. ;)

Anyone know off hand if there is a Buddy dealer in Denver?

Leaving for Colorado tomorrow. May end up in Estes park later in the week. Where is your rental shop located and what are your rates? Can my wife, who has no temp yet, ride one of your scooters or must you be licensed in Colorado. Let me know today if you can.My new buddy will be in when I get back. I live in Hinckley about 20 miles south of Cleveland. thanks

Looks like he has 50cc so you need a Dr License to ride.

Great additonal info on his site.

They are 49CC so you do not need a Motorcycle Endorsement (Colorado Law). You do need a normal drivers' license. You only need an endorsement to ride the 250cc Big Ruckus which can carry 2 people.

We are on RT 34 (Big Thompson Road) just outside of downtown. Partners name is Deanna. Tell her Tony sent you. Rates -n- stuff are on the site, don't want this to be a complete ad for my shop (the all day rate is a bargain!). ;)

Did you order your Buddy from Phil? He said he is expectnig 6. You must be on the backorder list that I am. Should be any day now!!

Assuming he meant she had her Temp Endorsement.

Highly recommend the Bear Lake route (in RMNP) we offer. 2 or 3 real twisty turns, so if your wife is nervous just make sure she does the speed limit through them. Awesome long straight hill on the way back down. I hit 50 MPH coming down (speedo pegged)!! And the lake is breathtaking. Hopefully you will see it before all the snow melts.

Thanks Tony. Yes I am waiting for my Buddy just like you. I hope to pick it up when I return from Colorado on the 17 of June. I would like to get my wife on one of your rentals to try for a couple hrs. She may want her own Buddy. I will look for Deanna. I have been to Estes Park several times and am very familiar with the area. Thanks for the info. Maybe we can get together in the Metro parks for a ride when I return. Rick

Awesome!! We are next to the Comfort Inn on the corner of 34 and Lake Front Street (the road that takes you down to the lake).
It's so pretty right now with the snow covered mountain tops.
46 degrees today, though. blech. Warming up all weekend so you should be golden. Have fun!
Scoot with ya' later! hehehe

Wow! Cleveland has a nice presence here. Renae from POC just dropped mine off yesterday. I am hooked on Buddy. I had a blast zipping around my neighborhood last night. I can't wait to get off work and ride around some more. Big thanks to Renae, Merritt, and Phil at Pride of Cleveland Scooters for taking great care of me.

Dropped it off? How sweet. Now THAT'S service!

Was yours backordered? I wonder if they have arrived?!?

That looks like a green sprint or rally 150 in the background :)

They had to get it from their east side store. I think the reds were back ordered. I got tangerine. The drop off service I think is $30 and is well worth it.

If I didn't live, literally, 10 minutes away on a Scoot, I would get delivery.

Still waiting.....
:(
Talked to Renae on Friday. Apparently Black and Red are the #1 and #2 most popular colors. Will be at least another week. She told me I could pick up an Orange or Blue one any time if I change my mind.

What to do, what to do? I really like that red one!! But warm weather is a precious commodity in Cleveland!

/me is torn...

EVERYONE IS WAITING...and remember those green or blue ones you could have had right away..well, they're backordered 4 deep right now too.

Word is a container of black and red ones got snagged by customs and they're taking their sweet time with them.

Y'all voted for the patriot act...didn't you? Now it's biting us in the butt.

We're harassing Genuine daily about getting these scooters in to us. At least they're not Prius....my brother works for toyota and there's currently an 8 week wait (and they don't get 90 mpg).

Well I hope we aren't talking WEEKS here? If that's the case I would have taken Renae (Renay?) up on the offer of a different color, although she offered an Orange one, too. No way would I take that blue. Green/Orange yes. :)

Um. No. I didn't vote for that nimrod in the White House. But politics are probably not a welcome topic here. hehehe

No they don't get 90MPG but you can drive them in December!! Scooter season is ticking away.

I'm not upset about it yet. I've always been an optimist and I hope I will be getting a phone call soon. Not really harassing you, my man. My signature line is just comic relief. hehehe

Love Estes Park! I have to drive my boyfrend up to the top of Trail Ridge because he can't do it, he starts to get all sweaty and hyperventilate. I love it, just one more thing that I can do that he can't! We go just about every year, his sister lives in Fort Collins. Next time, we're stopping and renting scooters, thanks so much for mentioning that, great idea! Sure beats those sad horse that are saddled up all day waiting for a rider, poor things.

I have to admit, I can't do it either. I can barely sit in the passenger seat and look out the window. hahaha I keep wanting to lean away from the edge of the road. So pretty, though. I am cutting some video right now of my partner and her brother riding the Ruckus up Trail Ridge. I will certainly post it here. Some really cool shots that my partner took while driving the Ruckus one handed!! Girls' got skillz. ;)

Wow I feel bad for getting my 2 buddy 125s in april, back when POC had a few of every color!

Good luck on the new scoot when you get it you will love it.

I'm so bummed. I got a bad feeling it's going to be WEEKS or maybe even longer before I get one. I'll take any color at this point, Phil. lol

Just got off the phone with a Yamaha Dealer. Thinking I could cancel my order with PoC and get a Vino. They are sold out and are not expecting anymore until August or September when the 09's come out.

I think it was easier to find a Wii when they came out. I should have brought a Metropolitan home from Colorado.... lol

I understand your impatience, but find your constant rants about it and "where's my scooter, Phil" rather irritating. If you have to have a scooter NOW - go to E-Bay and find one. The Buddy's are worth the wait, though.

Excuse me? Rants? You call this ranting? Constant rants? Could you be more specific because I don't see anything in this entire post, or anywhere else that I have posted, that I would consider a rant. I have not yet begun to rant.
Define: Rant:
harangue: a loud bombastic declamation expressed with strong emotion
bombast: pompous or pretentious talk or writing
talk in a noisy, excited, or declamatory manner

The "Where's my scooter, Phil" was meant to be comic relief and not rude in any way shape or form. That has since been changed anyway. I know it is not Phil's fault at all.
The "can I play the scavenger hunt with my car" is a joke.

Just sharing my experience of waiting on a scooter and I certainly don't think I've been even a tiny bit pretentious or rude. I ordered this thing almost 3 weeks ago and am SERIOUSLY JONESING!! I adore scooters and am beyond bummed that I may not get one for months. Sorry I shared my disapointment with you.

Ya' don't like it, don't read the thread.

Closest Ebay scooter is in PA....

I know that this whole season took everyone by suprise.

I was at the yamaha dealer in lorainish and they were sold out of most everything new in april and had an 07 vino 50 and like a c3. When they tried to get more yamaha said no more shipments till fall when the 09s come in.

It sucks but at least I decided early and now I get to scoot!\

As you've read, there are many people out there who sympathize and are going through the same thing waiting on scooters. Somewhere, out there in the Pacific, there's a ship with a few containers full of Buddys. At least in my imagination. The ship's captain was raised on the high seas and though he can be tough (it's his way or the plank!), he has a heart of gold and will do anything it takes to make sure his precious cargo makes it to its destination. "Get the lead out boys, it's up to us to make sure these Buddy's make it to the mainland!"

Guess I was getting a bit pessimistic towards the end here. After all the horror stories about sold out scooters every where, can you blame me?

Just got the call. It has arrived! SWEET!!!!

/me bows to Phil and the crew at PoC! Thanks everyone!!!

I was just up there when they were making calls. Look at the board of people waiting on scoots to come in.

Good thing yours came in. I was just getting ready to offer to come over and let you stare longingly at my black one and if your nice to even sit on it and make Vroom-Vroom noises :P
