Wassup fellow Budsters! I am potentially picking up my Buddy 125 today after work and I am so excited. First off, hello, I am a normal guy, married, live in FL, my wife drives a Prius, and I am getting the Buddy, figures right. I work 4 miles from home, and I have wanted a scooter for several years, finally my b-day present paid off. I almost got the Vino but my charming wife led me to the site with the review. So last Saturday we and ordered an Orange one. Orange happens to be my favorite color!
They said one week till delv, but I called just to see what was up, and guy at the store said "it is scheduled for delv today" whoop whoop! I am super excited!
Anyway, thought I would stop lurking and finally get on here and say wassup.

i have just one thing to say...scootering is addictive!! that 4 mile commute is only going to contribute to a very small percentage of the miles you but on your scoot. congrats, and welcome to the family.
oh, yeah....orange is the fastest color. enjoy :lol:

has anyone taken the written portion of the DL for motorcycles in FL?
I am studying and take it tomorrow. I can't imagine that it is a brain buster.

It's not a brain buster but there are some tricky questions, read through the manual a few times and you should be OK. Let us know how you do!

It's pretty simple. Pretty much word for word from the manual.

Read through it a few times and you'll be golden.

Okay, it didn't come in today. Got myself all worked up over nothing.

Yeah, i have read through it twice now. I am just going for the permit tomorrow a.m. then return at a later date for the riding test.

Passed test with 2 free questions. I got 3 wrong and they stopped it at 23. I could only get 5 wrong out of 25. No problem, now to make sure the store gets their delv. today. Keeping my fingers crossed. :wink:

yeah, a couple yrs ago, I was like, scooters, they are the way to go with the gas situation. My wife wanted the Prius at that time. I shared with my friends and they were like, you are such a geek a scooter would be perfect for you. Then they went on a vaca in St Augustine and rented a scooter, came back and bought a Zuma 50cc. So I have gotten to borrow that once or twice, confirming that I would use the scooter, and could handle one. I have never been a fan of the motorcycle, to dangerous, but now I am older and wiser, at least that is what people keep telling me.
IN the two year time, my wife finally convinced me to let her get the Prius, can't really argue with a 3k tax credit, so in turn I am getting the scooter, and am really looking forward to commute conversion.

How many of you ride at night? and what are the thoughts on that?

I see photos of Buddy's in colors that aren't available. What is the cost for a buddy to be painted? And I would assume you take it to a pro.

I actually rather enjoy riding at night. Don't know why...maybe its the glow of the dashboard (yeah that's partially it). And actually SEEING my headlights work (on side streets at least).

But I'm in chicago so its still bright even when its dark out. (As far as visual safety is concerned)

Me too! I love riding at night. There's less traffic, the traffic that's out is less likely to be angry, the squirrels have gone to sleep, and I always liked driving at night. It's just peaceful to me.

I do want a headlight upgrade, however. And I would recommend a helmet halo and something reflective on your body.

Deer around here are very plentiful. So you gotta watch out for them everywhere. If you hit one which people do a lot in this area, it is not fun. Do not know how they are in your area but do watch out.
