...and the second impact, and thanked my lucky stars I was in the cage. It was a multicar pileup today caused by a careless driver who then tried to flee the scene. I went all Rambo on him and chased him and his buddies into a parking lot while calling 911. They stopped and ran off. The cops got some of them. The guy in the car behind me wasn't so lucky. He was transported.

Let's be careful out there.

Midlothian Turnpike, where else? I candidly confess to being afraid to ride a scooter on that road, but there's no way I can avoid it since I live right between Hull St and Midlthian Tpk. It's gotten so I can hardly leave the house without seeing a crash.

Hey, I saw a dude on either a green or blue Buddy going down Hull when I was in the turn lane for Costco the other day...

I hope that you will be okay. It can take a few months for some symptoms to show up.

I have been rear ended twice by illegals, no insurance, no registration,no drivers license and not even the owner of the vehicle! One woman even got out and had the nerve to yell at me that I could have hurt her child! The man ran up to woman driver who witnessed this and theatened her if she testified!!! I get so mad at the cops out here just letting them go! Last time about 8 of them packed in the cab of a small pickup. As they piled out and ran across the interstate (looked like a shriner's clown car unloading) I backed one into a corner as I called 911. I don't know why I bothered as not even a slap on the wrist from the cop. On the other hand if I did not even have my registration on me according to my state laws that cop could have hauled me in!

Glad you are alright. Perhaps we should give you a merritt badge for citizenship. So many people just look the other way these days.

I almost got taken out on my scoot yesterday by a green mini-van screeching out of the Hyundai dealership, with dealer plates, with a dealer behind the wheel! He pulled into the same gas station I did down the road a bit. I just gave him the evil eye until he probably figured I was going to call the dealership manager (which I was) and he came over and apologized.

Nearly bought a car there last August too....Glad I went with another dealership.

Thats why I'm thankfull I don't remember the accident where my car was totaled. I have remember swearing to myself knowing that I was going to be in an accident, then a cop knocking on my window asking if I was ok.

Hope I'm not being a dork by saying this but I wonder if you could write to the local authorities and see if something can be done about that intersection. I know Atlanta has some bad intersections and occasionally, they make the news because normal people like us make enough of a stink. AND occasionally, they even get fixed/changed to reduce the accident rates!! I bet the statistics for # of accidents at that area could be some good backup for requesting a change.

The one thing the news does okay at is drawing attention to problems and anoying the government, sometimes resulting in changes. Call up some local tv stations and see if they're interested.. espeically if there is a history of accidents. I know when I was in RI we had a couple "dangerous" road's we loved talking about on the news.

...and now it turns out that the guy in the car behind me, who got hit by the third car in line, the guy is paralyzed from the waist down. Bad. Very bad. Life can change in a moment even when you are just sitting at a traffic light minding your own business.

Your thread just reminded me to call the city about my street. Since they built the big box store off the main road, people have been using my street as a high speed thoroughfare...

it's a residential street, people! without sidewalks! and young kids live here!

Our neighbors suggested buying those little bean bags and throwing them at cars that speed through...

When my kids were small we lived on a similar street. One of the neighborhood dads would crouch behind a hedge and roll a basketball across in front of speeders. Never close enough to cause the driver to lose control of the car, but I'd be willing to bet there were a number of underwear changes. After MUCH complaining, we were blessed with speed bumps. A PITA for residents, but I'm sure it saved some kids!
