Put my deposit down on a Buddy 125 last night...

Post by chrissolo48 »

... and I am soooo excited (and nervous too). I'll be taking my temp test within the week and then on to the driving test...

I got the seafoam green color, and hopefully we'll be able to take delivery on it by the end of the month-then the fun begins!

I do have a couple of questions - has anybody gotten any reflective stickers for the back of the scooter and/or helmet to help with visibility at night? Where did you get them?

Congrats! Welcome! Ride Safe!

You dont need reflective tape or stickers... It makes it easier for the cops to find you...

Right on! I've had Buddy about a week now. Got my temps last Saturday. It's about the most fun I've had in/on a (moving) vehicle ever. I just started riding it the 40 mile round trip to work today. As the others have mentioned, be safe, always be aware of the road and the other drivers, and progress at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Congrats!

And yes yes yes... I've put all kinds of decals (some reflective, some not) on my helmet.

I got some from here: http://www.streetglo.net/

They have ones that are black until light hits them (my helmet is black) so they aren't very obvious in the day. I also went to an auto parts store and bought some white reflective tape and cut it into squares to make a little racing checkerboard pattern on the helmet too.

The only reflective tape I've put on the scooter itself is under the fake reflectors on the Genuine topcase.

The more light you can reflect, the more visible you are... just try to be creative so you don't look like a road barricade or something!!

have fun!!!

jmazza, when you put the reflective tape "under" the fake reflectors on the topcase, how did you do it? Do you mean you pride the fake reflectors off and put tape under it, or did you mean under the top lid??? I want to do the same.

I went to wal-mart and bought reflective tape for $2 a roll.. they only have red and white so it will have to do for now.. I put checks down the rear sides and across the front. I think it looks spiffy (until I can get orange  )

Congrats btw ;)

Actually you don't pry them off. Open up the top lid and there are two little screws that hold the reflectors on. Just remove those and it all comes apart. There is a thin layer of silver cellophane underneath the plastic that, I guess, is supposed to be reflective. I think I stuck my tape to that.

I did a pretty unprofessional job of it- on the more rectangular one in the center I cut the tape pretty well but under the two side ones I just put a strip of tape each. I'd like to redo it and match the size better.

I've asked my wife if she can see it when she's driving behind me and she says it's not a HUGE amount of reflection but it definitely is better than what's on there now. The stock "reflectors" aren't reflectors at all.

I've had custom reflective checkered stripes made for me by Harris Decals. They have a lot of stock stuff you can order, too. Fast, cheap, and great quality.
