I passed but you won't believe what happened

Post by mandyscoots »

Hi everybody!
I took my skills test today and passed. I got 5 points taken off for my sudden stop because I broke before the cones...but I still passed!

But....So heres what happened...for those of you that don't know I have a pink buddy 125, so when I pulled up there we like 4 crotch rockets and 4 harley like bikes. They instantly started making fun of me...laughing saying how easy the test was going to be for me because my bike was so small and I don't have to shift. We had to give the instructor our paperwork and while I was in line for that I could hear all the guys snickering and making comments about how all the scooter drivers around here don't know what they are doing.
Our whole class ended up being about 25 people, I was about 7th in line (I was the only scooter and there were only 2 girls me and another lady). When the instructor called my name for my turn...I turned my key and my hazard lights were on...I thought thats weird and then when I tried to start it, it wouldn't start. My kill switch had been turned off!
Then all the young guys in the "crotch rocket" group began snickering again! When I was handing in my paper work one of the guys turned on my hazards and switched my kill switch with out me seeing!!!!! :o
They thought this was really funny too! Can you believe that!
Lucky I figured it out really quickly and just turned my hazards off and switched the kill switch and started my buddy! So I didn't make too much of an ass out of myself!
The up side is I passed and 3 MEN with big bikes before me didn't!! SO who's laughing now assholes!

I would like comments on this. Is this a funny joke or is this complete bullshit (like I think it is!)???

it's b.s. you know if you had messed with one of those harleys the owner would have lost it, it's just disrespect.

Yea they say scooter riders are uneducated riders, so far many of the crotch rocket riders in my town dont know what a lane is, dont know what the speed limit is, and dont know what safety gear is.

A lot of the scooter boys think it's hysterical to switch off each other's kill switches at stoplights.

Man, you ain't just whistling dixie! If one of those crotch rocket dicks would so much as breathed wrong on one of the Harley guys bikes, he probably would have been beat with a bag of door knobs.

I find what they did to be complete B.S. I consider doing it to rookies at stoplights to be childish and dangerous.

I had some guy come up to me on the disc golf course the other day and tell me that he and another guy moved my scooter because it was taking up full a parking space (it was between two cars when I parked it, but they left and new cars parked in a such a way that I had a full space to myself).

He was amazed that I was upset he touched my scooter. I was so upset, I couldn't put together the right words to convey to him how uncool that was.

Congrats to you.

I would have went off on them, though. That's just uncool and disrespectfull. I probably would have sat and watched the rest of them test and then LMAO when any of them failed.

Question in general: Do scooterists get any respect from motorcycles on the road? Any body had issue with these guys on the road?

I have one good friend that has a motorcycle and a scooter and he always waves at scooterists when he's on the Harley.

I don't know what getting respect on the road would mean. No one ever waves at me but I don't really care- I'm not all that into the "hey I'm on 2 wheels and you're on 2 wheels, let's be a club and wave!" thing. I figure there are cool people on two wheels and there are cool people on four wheels and, of course, jackasses on both as well.

Just so happens that all the cool two wheeled people ride Buddies.

Y'know... as opposed to being disrespected? Anyone on a motocycle ever pull up next to you and give you s*** about your scooter. Cut you off? or anything stupid like that?

They are always waving and nodding at us on scooters in Estes Park...

Mandyscoots - I think it is total BS what they did to you. Heck, I had a friend who apparently sat on my scooter at a festival the other weekend and everyone took pics. She was rocking it back and forth, etc. I'm pretty mad about it all and she is my FRIEND! This is my mode of transportation...why do people think they can mess with it? Someone once said on here "I don't sit on your hood, please don't sit on my scoot" or something. I agree. Those dudes should not have messed with your scooter at all. Jerks. Karma will get them.

OR at full speed during a group ride.

Stuff like that (and rally haircuts and rally paintjobs, and drunk dialing, and teabagging) is funny among friends, but that's just mean to do it to a stranger during their test.

But remember, any time someone hassles you or makes fun of you (re: scooter or not), it's because they're jealous and/or they think you're cute. That explains ten thousand years of bullying, pigtail-pulling and the like. Getting ignored is the worst.

Jerks pure and simple. If someone sat on my Harley, I would probley wank em in the head and tell them to get the F*&K off, if they sat on my Stella, I would, no doubt, punch them in the face and beat the half to death. (not really but I would want to)

It is pure disrespect. Noone should ever touch someone elses bike. NEVER for no reason. If someone had moved my bike while I was playing golf, tag, jumping up and down on a sidewalk, whatever, it would be the last time they ever did. it.

Or snatching your keys and riding off with them!

ooh ooh... another fun one:
if there's construction going on, with the orange cones out, grab one as your ride by, then set it down in the middle of the intersection!

and who can forget the classic "Truck stop vending machine condom on the throttle grip" gag. priceless.

Considering the fact that you were taking your test and probably at least a bit nervous, I think you reacted beautifully. If it was me taking my test many years ago I can't say for sure that I would've figured it out as quickly.

Good job, congratulations. Forget about the pranksters and ride. Stay safe!

Agreed. Sheesh, I accidently hit my kill switch when I parked one morning going in to work. I didn't figure it out until I was rolling the scoot up onto the hauler on the back of the truck. D'Oh.

From my point of view, none of these grab-ass games are appropriate at any time. Cars ain't toys, motorcycles ain't toys, and scooters, despite what some knotheads believe, ain't toys. I didn't catch whether this happened at an MSF class, or a DMV test, but either way, doing it in an instructional/test situation is inexcusable.

I do know that an MSF instructor can toss you, no questions asked, for creating a dangerous condition for either yourself or others. As far as I'm concerned, pulling sophomoric pranks during a class or test constitutes just such an offense. When folks are new to the game, on edge, or just trying to concentrate on the task at hand, the last thing they need is to be distracted or thrown out of their groove by horseplay. Had I been the instructor/tester, I would have informed the dumbasses that the next one pulling a stunt like that could kiss their enrollment/testing fee sayonara. Or, at the very least, I'd "make sure" that they lost enough points in the evaluation to warrant an "F". Guess that makes me a crusty old hardass, eh?

In any event, kudos to you for keeping your focus and succeeding. The upside is that it's probably a good introduction to all the mindless crap you can expect to occur during everyday riding,

Best regards,

Charlie

Hey, don't feel bad. When I took my motorcycle test I was on a Harley Sportster. A couple of burly gentlemen had their Road Kings and panicked just before their test. They asked a scooter rider if they could take their test on his scooter. Needless to say the scooter guy was honored. Pretty funny seeing burly Harley dudes on a scooter. I laughed all the way home.
Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded.

Nope never been disrespected by a motorcycle while riding. Everyone just does their own thing. But I don't know that that means I'm 'getting respect'... most riders around here are just too cool for respect/disrespect. As I said, I'm not big into the waving thing so I dunno!!

LOL on the inside there was sheer panic, acutually for a spilt second I thought o no I'm going to have to tell the instructor my buddy won't start!
