Modern Buddy

For those of you have been spray painting your Buddy to whatever color your hear desires, I'm wondering about the top cases.

If you want a top case to match the scooter, could the top case be spray painted? Like the GIVI case or whatever brand top case it may be (hard sided). Would that same paint work on the topcase as does for the Buddy?

If it's plastic, it's krylon fusion-able!

Any plastic can be cleaned, and sprayed with that stuff, even the givi top cases. Though you might need to take it apart.

After dumping my Budd a while back (at 35 mph!) I ended up with a nasty gray scrape on the front fender. I used Krylon Fusion gloss black to cover it after a little bit of sanding (you can still see some gouges.). It worked real well.

Yeah, I tipped my baby over and scraped it up a bit. Is there touch-up paint available in Buddy Baby Blue, or does Krylon have anything close?

I don't really want to spring for a whole new panel, but it bugs me every time I look at it.

Which panel is scratched? They're pretty darn inexpensive to replace.

An automotive paint shop can probably mix a matching color for you to use for touch ups. Several people have told me that's better than touch up paint, which often doesn't precisely match. I haven't tried it yet, myself and don't know if that carries over for paints for plastics.

I'm sort of "challenged", so don't know the official name. It's the front right side panel, the one that swoops up in front of my knee.

Thanks for the tip about the body shop. I'm thinking it would be a good idea to have a small can/jar handy -- just in case

Some automotive paint specialty places can actually make you a can of color-matched spray touch-up paint, I believe. I just checked online and found some that could probably do it if you can get the paint code from Genuine. It might end up costing more than a panel, though, ha.

Don't use spray paint. I've yet to see a spray paint that looks as good and holds up as good as a spray gun.
