Modern Buddy

I am new to the scooter world but after lots of research I have fallen in love with the Buddy. I live in hawaii and getting one here has been interesting but I have it worked out. So here's my question to you knowledgable buddy owners. What are the advantages of the 150? Other than the look and a louder horn? Someone mentioned the 150 has more plastic and would be better with rusting. Thoughts??

There's no more plastic- they are the exact same body as the 125's.

There's obviously a larger motor in the 150's. The extra 125cc's seem to get you quicker pickup and more power through the midrange.

Beyond that, yes the look and the louder horn.

Nice review, although he is comparing a '06 Buddy 125 to an '08 Buddy 150. I'd be interested to see the head to head on the '08 125 and 150. Honestly I would have bought the 150 but I was already stretching my finances to the limit and when I asked the sales person her opinion, she said go for the 125. When a sales person recommends the cheaper of the two it might mean something.

Yeah it is the 06 since that's what he had available to review against the 150. It still gives a nice idea of the differences. Maybe when we get some more 125s in stock i can convince him to do another review. (not that it would be hard to convince him to do that)

Other than cosmetics, a properly maintained '06 would perform pretty much just like an '08 125.

Those reviews ARE really really great. That original Buddy 125 one is what sold me on the Buddy. I think it did a lot of people around here!

Same engine on the 06 125 as the 08 125, there isnt going to be more power in a 08 just because it's newer.

I haven't read the review recently, but it would be helpful (if it doesn't already) to give the difference between an 06 and 08 Buddy.

If a person wants the two-tone color of the 150's then go with the 150 to begin with especially if you have to ship to begin with.

Just emailed him about this to maybe put a note on his review. he also mentions the better lighting and the larger headset of the 150's but these are on the current 125s (and the 07's) as well.

I see he is reviewing the 150 and comparing with other brands. Since his objective isn't to review/compare the 150 to the 125 I can see why he doesn't make special note what the 06 125 does not have or the 07 125 does have.

I did read his review before I bought the 07 125 and it was a deciding factor to buy the Buddy over the Vino 125 which he compared in that review.

Well worth the read for anyone considering buying the three brands he compares.

That and having to change the headlight fluid every 300 miles while you do your tire rotation.

Seriously, what everyone else said. 25cc more, big a$$ horn, different colors. For $200 bucks more I would do it, otherways I would get the 125 and mount the Stebel horn on it.

Yeah but I'm talking about his "Buddy vs Buddy" section where he is comparing them- the better lights and larger headlight aren't upgrades for the 150's but I think it sounds like they are.

I reread that section; yes, he should specify the year of the Buddy 125.
It is misleading to someone beginning to learn about the Buddy scooters.

Not even! The 08 125 has the BIG HORN!

So, it's colors, engine and 25cc.

AND about $300.

I know this, but I'm saying what the 150 has over the 125. Just remember both are stebels, but one is louder than the other. The one used in the 125 is a magnum, not a nautilus.

The magnum used in the 125 is 136 decibels, WHILE the internationals use the nautilus which is 139 decibels. Every 3db the sound to the human ear is twice as loud.

So really, the 150 besides engine and color, does have a nicer horn.

Although I still think the nautilus still sounds like a antique car horn on steroids.
