Word! I was actually looking at a similar setup for sale on StellaSpeed, though with the Cozi sidecar instead...

Obviously, not *as* awesome as that one, though. :D

Heh. That is a nice rig. It seems like aobut once every year or so, a really nice sidecar rig shows up for sale somewhere near me. So far, with the help of my wife and family, I have always resisted the temptation.

Scooterworks sells them and there's apparently a sidecar specialist near me somewhere.

You can't mount one on a Buddy, though. Mike at NoHo Scooters attempted it, but the thing was horribly unstable. The Buddy's size, weight distribution and plastic paneling mean a sidecar just won't work.

Both sidecars pictured (the one above and the one on Stellaspeed) are Cozi brand sidecars. They make two styles - the rocket shape sort of copies the East European/Russian Jupiter or Sputnik sidecar and the other copies the flat-sided German Steib beloved of BMW owners everywhere. One thing to remember with sidecars and scoots is that a sidecar and passenger weigh about as much as you and the scoot. It takes some beans to move the thing along and a Buddy is really not the guy for the job even if you could figure out how to attach it. You commonly see the Cozi sidecars attached to a Stella or Bajaj. In either case, it turns a 55 mph scooter into a 30 mph scooter and gives the brakes quite a workout. Most folks who put a sidecar on a Stella also kit it to provide some help. I presume some clever soul has attached a Cozi to a Vespa GTS. It would be interesting to hear how that works. One reason I have followed the discussion about a possible 250 4T Stella is just this - being a serious side car nut and Ural owner myself. In the meantime, the scooter setups I've seen are really more for Veteran's Day parades than for serious riding.

the responses that people have are worth going slower...

Of course, empty kind of defeats the point of a sidecar. On the other hand, thats better than anything I've seen personally. A Bajaj, for example, manages only about 50-55 with no hack. The scoot in the photo appears to be a Stella. Do you know what kind of kitting and other mods it received.

i was behind that sidecar for a good portion of the ride yesterday & let me tell you, it is a noisy bugger. :) and when it came to taking corners with the wheels airbound, well, just let me say i gave him plenty of room. ;)

and a shout out to mike for a fun ride! and the beer was tasty, too! i'm going back to that place, soon.

it is a stella, and it is now a 180cc, and exhaust upgrade. I think that Ducati Seattle did the engine work on it.

He likes the squirrelyness of the sidecar, its hilarious seeing him doing sliding stops and drifting turns

Best sidecar ever:

I'm pretty sure I've seen a Vespa GTS with sidecar, but I can't find a pic. Mounting would be pretty easy—just bolt on to the metal body.
