Can i pull and change the oil filter on my Buddy 125 without first draining the oil?... or will it come gushing out if i try that?

It shouldnt gush out since the motor isnt running. But why do you want to change the filter out and not the oil with it? Just remember to torque the filter to 8NM or 5.9 foot pounds.

I was waiting for the filters to arrive from scooterworks and got impatient, so changed the oil before a long ride (just bought the scooter and it really needed it) Now the filters are here and i was gonna put the new one on... but was concerned that the setup would cause most of the oil to drain from the filter hole if i removed the filter while the scoot was still full of oil. So u think it will be ok?

You'll probably lose some oil, but not a gusher. If you put a drainpan underneath and check the level afterwards, you should be okay.

There's nothing special about the Buddy oil filters—of you can't get them from one supplier, any Vespa dealer should carry them. The same ones are used on several models. You can use either the Piaggio or Hi-Flo branded ones, but be aware that the Hi-Flos have the slot head which is harder to turn and tighten.

Coolio thx! yeah i didnt want the slot and the scooter dealers wanted $23 for the filter... got it for $9 each on the internet.

Don't feel bad slugdugg, I paid $23 for mine at my local dealer. I have to wonder what the cost of these things are if a dealer can still make a profit selling it for $9 rather than $23.

From what I've read in other blogs and forums, though, cost of parts and labor in SF is insane—way higher than the rest of the country for some reason.

Because we're all rich and famous...or something like that
