The CVT is a great little invention... I'm looking to try out different slopes and see if I can't get a little more umph out of my Buddy, should be a fun project and best of all, really no way to break it, it will either work or not
I wish more things had CVT's in them, it would simplify a lot

If you start swapping out variator or clutch parts be VERY careful that you get everything back in there tight. I was talking to a local tuner over the weekend and they shared some real horror stories about people who jammed their outer variator fan and chewed up teeth and even had the variator pull the crankshaft out of place with the engine running.
The moral of the story is to make sure you're getting that outer nut back on nice and tight and not tightened simply against the belt. It's really easy to get it tight against the belt, but then once it gets moving, that belt slides out and now you've got slack and play in the inner and outer variator components. Bad news when there's that much force involved. It's really easy to warp those variator parts, or worse, jack up the crankshaft.
