Routine maintenance

New scooter owner here - seems like there are a bunch new scooter owners....

So a couple weeks ago I bought a used Buddy 50 with 1800 miles on it. I just rolled over 2000 miles today, and that made me start thinking about maintenance. This is what I know about the scooter: it was a trade-in for a buddy 125 and is a little over a year old. I have checked the oil and I don’t need to add any. I downloaded the PGO owner’s guide for the buddy 125 but couldn’t find one for the buddy 50. Is there a buddy 50 manual? Does anyone know what a maintenance schedule would be for a 50? Or should I just take to the dealer for a routine maintenance check/ oil change once in a while just to play it safe?

You should be able to get an owner's manual from a local dealer or by calling Scooterworks, the retail arm of Genuine (1-888-96-VESPA).

We have the service manual available as a download here:

http://modernbuddy.com/pdf/buddy50_service_manual.pdf

This is really intended for dealers and mechanics, so doesn't include some detailed info they would already have.

Since you bought used, do you know what maintenance has been done on the Buddy? It may be worth your while to take it to a dealer, have them check it out and do a basic maintenance.

There's a maintenance schedule in the Service Manual (above) starting on page 22, but the intervals in the manuals are all wrong. Genuine even provided us with a better schedule for the Buddy 125s and Blurs. This is another thing a local dealer can help with, as some have their own recommendations.
