Fuel Fragrances

I read a while ago (and don't know where) about fuel additives to make your scoot smell great.

Well, I just found a bunch of fuel fragrances at Manhattan Oil.

I just bought Pina Colada and Vanilla. Hope this keeps the tailgaters happy.

I like the way my exhaust smells, actually do they have a 2 stroke scent? I would buy that!

that is so weird, didnt think fragrances for that existed...

If I can ever find it at a local shop.....I will grab the scented 2-stroke oil from Ipone (I'm to cheap to pay $8 for shipping).

The shipping was only $5

I got two good flavors/scents that hopefully will make people happy behind me. BUT they have a bunch including bubble gum, cinnamon, cherry bomb, chocolate, tangerine, apple, banana, cotton candy and more.

And each tube/container is good for 30 gallons. So just a squirt in each tankful will probably make the $12 fragrance last for 3000 miles. Not a horrible investment.

I think I'll go with the Pina Colada for the summer.

No offence, but that is the most absurd thing I've seen for quite some time. And despite what the site says, if it works, it can't be good for the engine, there's just no way.

I mean, how could the delightful essence of Pina Colada hurt a piston or ring or valve?

That's silly. This stuff is probably better than not having a scent.

Actually, all of these scents are going to be artificially blended esters and other organic chemicals that aren't going to compete with combustion or produce anything that'll gum up seals I'd wager, especially at the low concentrations they're using. In a tank as small as a scooter, you're looking at a couple drops for the whole tank of gas.

I knew organic chemistry would come in handy some day!

That and anecdotally, 2-stroke scooterists have been using scented oils since forever.

Cool. Now that I'm sure not to monkey butt my gas tank, I'm gonna order a bunch more flavors/scents. And maybe I can mix them.

How about Chocolate Pina Colada? Or Cinnamon Cotton Candy? Or Tangerine Liver?

I am confused about how many gallons the bottle treats. It first says 10-20gal but further down says 20-30gal of gasoline???

When I first bought my Buddy, the dealer tried to sell me strawberry-scented oil. Dealer-endorsed couldn't mean it's terrible for the scooter, really.

I was always under the impression that these scented additives were bad for your catalytic converter...does the Buddy even have a cat?

It does warn not to use them with catalytic converters, but I surmise that the Buddy doesn't have one.

And I'm planning to go the safe route and have my 500 mile service before dripping some of this stuff in.

THEN I'll try about two-four drops per tankful.

Could be kinda cool. Headed down to Cape Cod to visit my girlfriend's family and her nieces, so the Pina Colada Orange scooter will probably go over well.

Unless the vile fragrance rots my engine before I get to Sandwich. That's a place on the Cape, not a tasty morsel that I'd like to have now that I'm talking about delightful smells.

Mmmm, snacks. Maybe I'll go have a Satan Canine. That's not it's real name...but you can figure that one out.

Parents just informed me that if I leave the scoot running in the garage with the doors closed and the new fragrances in the tank, it might smell nice but I'll still die.

Bummer.

Oh, by the way. The bottles I ordered are pretty big and will likely take car of 25 tankfuls. If you're local to Boston and want have a bottle (we'll each get at least 12+ tanks of sweet smellingness) gimme a shout.

I ordered Pina Colada and Vanilla.

I've taken an objective whiff of my exhaust and it actually doesn't smell that bad. Might try to change my vote.

But I'm still getting the fragrances. Will put a report here on if bees and drunks follow me home.

Got the fragrances today and dripped about a capful into the tank.

Says it uses 4 oz for 20+ gallons of fuel. And I filled up earlier today so I have about 7/8 of a tank left (or more).

A cap was probably about a tablespoon full of the Pina Colada. Then I ran the engine for about three minutes, rocking the bike back and forth to mix it and revving the engine.

No real effect yet. I guess I'll have to do some more intensive driving tomorrow. My guess is that Scootle is so good on gas that it will take a bit before the fragrance reaches the pipe.

I have a 100-mile round trip tomorrow, so I'll stop and sniff the exhaust a couple times during the day to see if the fragrance is working.

**It really smells strong as I dripped a tiny tiny tiny bit on my fingers when pouring it into the tank.**

***Bottles carried no engine type warnings. They did say not to drink it and that it was highly flammable.***
