Buddy 50 seat repair

Post by gelldav »

I have a new buddy 50 (orange) and park it on the streets of nyc as do hundreds of other scooter owners.... i dont recall ever noticing any other scooter vandalized, but, someone slashed my seat with a blade..
it is several long slashes parallel to each other going the length of the seat...
the seat still functions perfectly except there are large areas where the foam is exposed and when it rains, it absorbs the water like a sponge..

anyway i was just going to buy a new seat but i figured this may just happen again..
does anyone have any creative/handy ideas of how to do a repair on this????
Thanks

There are a lot of Vinyl repair kits on the market. Some require you to mix a matching color. Others, you just kind of get what you get.

If you are afraid this may happen again, some higher-priced motorcycle covers that are supposedly slash-proof and which will lock at the bottom through some grommets. Even if not 100% slash-proof, it may be enough of a deterrent to keep the vandals away.

Also, if you want a brown Buddy seat and can get one, it may be worth it to do so, as i don't think they're making in them in brown anymore.

gelldav,

Have you checked these out? http://www.formosasaddlebags.com/

I came across them yesterday and it seems like it would work for you. Not only do you get a waterproof seat cover, but you gain 2 saddlebags and an underseat storage net to boot! Just slip it over your cut-up seat and you're good to go. No repairs needed.

The owner of the company also PM'd me yesterday after I posted his link in another thread. Talk about customer service!
