Does anyone know if the Vino uses a key to open the gas tank? If so, is it different from the ignition key?

I just happen to have a Vino 125. It uses the ignition key to unlock the gas cap. One key - thank goodness.

I don't think it does. I think your cap is just unsecured all the time. That's one of the things that led us to the Buddy - that the fuel cap was under the seat.

I have a Buddy and love it... My husband now wants his OWN scoot, so we have been looking on craigslist and found a Vino 125 for $900. The catch? We don't REALLY know if it runs since the battery is dead and the gas tank is empty and the key is broken. Hmmm...

Whoa, easy. I think Nathaniel was saying he picked a Buddy INSTEAD of a Vino, because his impression was that the exposed cap of the Vino is unsecured. (as opposed to the Buddy's, which is locked under the seat)

Based on your post, I'd say that was a misunderstanding, but since you guys posted simultaneously, I think it's understandable. :)

Sorry, that wasn't meant to sound harsh. I just didn't see where it answered the question. Again, if it sounded harsh, it wasn't meant that way at all. Actually I wondered if I had misunderstood and wanted clarification.

No, as I recall, the gas cap on a Vino 125 is the locking type. Somewhat inconveniently placed, though. If you have a package bungeed to the rear rack or a top box, both will block access to the gas tank.

The best gas cap location I ever saw was on a Bet & Win 250. Right legshield, just below the ignition. That was because the fuel tank was beneath the floorboard.
