Turn Signal mod

I'm thinking about doing the turn signal mod in the next couple weeks but was wondering if anyone knows if there are any downsides. I heard it makes your headlight dimmer. Any truth to that?

I dont notice any difference as to the brightness of the headlight... one downside is the voiding of the electrical part of the warranty...
and if you mess it up and cut too many wires break something etc... it would suck to fix it.
But it is really easy to do, it will increase your front view visibility, and when you meet other buddy riders, you will be the one that has actually performed surgery on your own beast.

What mod are you talking about? The dead lights to running lights? Or the turn signals both flicking at the same time when activated?
The turn signals wont drain the head light, but if you turn them into running lights, they can drain it.

Here's my expereince: I wired them as running lights last October and have put 2500 miles on since then. Using the original battery which still fires my scoot up strong first try.

I think he means does it drain the head light's brightness, not the battery. If it does, a higher powered motorcycle battery should work.

OK. I haven't noticed the battery OR the headlight "draining" as a result of the mod.

I know this is quite the dead horse and all, but one question...Does turning the deadlights to extra turn signals void the electrical part of the warranty?

i believe so... when in doubt ask your dealer

man I forgot about the warranty. Argh!

i only think it would void the front end electrics part of the warranty... i dont think they would be able to say that it affects the spark plug... but you never know.
hey sadtransmissions: if you wanna ride up to seattle I can help you with the mod if you would like... its really fun, and easy!

there are a couple other buddies up here that want to do it too, we can make a whole night / mod workshop / ride / dinner out of it. I know SarahScoot wants to do it...

Mikie et al - I second the idea of a mod workshop/dinner/ride. Ducai has promised me that the scoot will be here within a week, and the first thing I want to do is activate those darn turn signals. I'll ride down from the great white north and bring tools, parts, jerky, etc.
Great idea Mikie.
(By the way, I'm in a band playing in Georgetown this Saturday, I hear there is a scooter shop nearby...)

Hey what band do you play in?
I play in an intrumental band in tacoma. We're at the Comet
July 2nd. My Drummer also scoots. We need to get some Northwest indie music rides going on!
Big People scooters is down in Georgetown. They have lots of old restored vespas but not much else I think but I honestly only dropped in and out.

I'm drumming with Glen Bell
www.glennbellrocks.com at Artopia. We'll be at Jules Maes Saloon starting at 7pm.
It should be a cool show, but I don't know Georgetown...
PM me about your band if you want!

Hey -- if the invitation is open, I would love to join you all for a turn signal wiring / dinner thing. I'm from Bremerton and just got my Buddy 150 about a month ago and am amped to hook up the deadlights, but a little hesitant to try myself.
