Modern Buddy

Keep hearing people say gas leaking after filling the new Buddys is not a fire hazard, so can I just not worry about the leak and let gas shoot all over the exhaust? Guess if dealer says its ok, I'm safe?

It doesnt squirt out like a hose, it just drips, and it drips nowhere near the part of the exhaust which would be dangerous.

I dont think it's really a fire hazard, a drip of gas can only burn for a second if it does catch on fire. My bike when new dripped after every ride, for around 2-3 minutes, say every 20-30 seconds it would drip.

900 miles and no dripping anymore, unless I force as much gas in as I can.

Appreciate that, I've been all stressed out about this as I bought for my wife and we leave it in our garage. Mine does the same thing,even when I only 1/4 or 1/2 fill. "Leak" gets so bad that sometimes it flows believe it or not, but not most of the time. I'm a product manager for a very large brand name equipment manufacturer. We get pretty serious when we hear about leaking fuel so I was surprised when the dealer didnot have a fix from Genuine. But looking around this forum seems like there are a lot of answers .I'm going to steer my local Buddy dealer here. Thanks!

It'll stop soon, it wont happen all the time once you get more miles on, but maybe once in a while, maybe after a fill up it will. I havent had it happen for around 300 miles, I've been checking when it happens, seems to happen less and less now, almost like it's completely gone and never drips anymore.

Great,hope you're right,I'm not so sure. I'm at 700 miles,had it for 3 weeks and keeps getting worse. I'm guessing if you check your charcoal filter, it's full of fuel. at some point it will fill up and you'll stall. But hope I'm wrong. Anyway, I'm afraid to post anymore cause people yell at me on this forum if I say anything bad about Buddy!

If it truly is getting worse and still does this all the time, I think the dealer should look at it then.

Yea,I'm gonna do that. Actually, I do see that someone from Genuine does check out this site so hoping the'll do the right thing. I do like my dealer as they seem pretty "by the book" and not going to make up a fix. But I do love the sooter. Hoping my wife will take it and let me get a Stella

I don't understand all the handwringing. This is a warranty issue. Simply take the scoot to the dealer and have them fix it. This problem with inadequate venting and fuel accumulating in the evaporation cannister is a known problem.

Sorry if there have been any pejorative comments. I think you are completely justified to 1) Have concerns, 2) Voice your concerns, 3) Post and work through problem-solving, and 4) Feel however you dang well please!

Sure it seems that way, but I did not mention here this will be my 3rd trip to the Dealer. I've had unit for 14 days. Everything else is wonderful. Just hope the next trip is not another waste of time. Surely you can understand my concern.
