Far be that I would laugh at a fellow scooterist misfortune. This guy deserved it.
A couple a weeks ago I ran into the guy parking his Vino 125 at the bike rack on the sidewalk. He naturally chained it to the rack. I told him about the TOTALLY free parking in the garage that is monitored by the parking attendants.
He chose to ignore me. He got busted. Funny now I see his Vino in the parking garage.
Our employer has been really great about 2 wheelers parking. They've expanded the area by two fold.

You know, I just do not understand why people believe they can do what they want when on a scooter like "its small, only two wheels, its ok".
No its not. It has a tag on it. It is a registered motor vehicle and falls under the laws governing motor vehicles. He deserved it.
No, I don't have a lot of gray areas.
"But officer, the Smart car is sooooo small, it should be ok." I expect to hear that one soon.

The trick is to park on private property where the owner isn't likely to mind. The thin strip between a fence and sidewalk is always good if it is clear that the "grey area" isn't city land. I have a spot where I park downtown that used to be near work, at a parking lot where there is a gap between the low wooden fence and the sidewalk proper.

I had to play that game today on campus. The 2 places I know I can park and lock up where blocked off with saw horses. I rode around for 10 minutes looking for a ligit space before finding the least offensive, with a low enough curb I could get up to chain my buddy to a light post and hope campus cops didn't yell at me about it. (I can't stand to think about leaving my buddy on a college campus out of view for 2 hours unlocked)Sparky wrote:The trick is to park on private property where the owner isn't likely to mind.
