Modern Buddy

Hello - You people are cool! The information and stories you share are really helpful and fun to read. I have serious buddy envy and hope to make a purchase in January of 07. You have already convinced me to buy more gear than I expected - more than an open helmet and gloves, so thanks for all the good discussion on gear.

By the way, for those who live in CO, where did you buy and do you still like the people who sold to you?

I got my Buddy 125 from Sportique, 32nd and Pecos. I like the people there even if they took four hours to install my wind screen. I got their service agreement which extended the warranty to three years. Most of my protective clothing and helmet I got from Performance Cycle, Broadway and one block north of Evans. Welcome to the list; and I hope you get your Buddy soon.

I live in Fort Collins also.. I go my Vino 125 before the Buddy was out on the market & I have a serious case of envy for the Cream Buddy

Dimick's Motorsports in Loveland sells the Buddy if you don't want to travel all the way to Denver or Boulder & they are really nice people. I bought a helmet from them last year. They are located near the Loveland airport . They let me test ride a Buddy a month or so ago.

Thanks for the welcome and for the information - I had very little idea on where to buy gear locally, and am very glad to hear that you have had good experiences at Dimmicks, as they are close and likely who I would use for any maintenance issues.

I bought from Sportique in the Springs & I still like the people who sold to me. They are knowlegeable & helpful.

If I were you, I'd buy locally if at all possible. I'm in Denver so Sportique is a natural for me since I can walk there if necessary. I've been dealing with Sportique for a few years now and I like those folks a lot. They're not perfect, no dealership is. For example, during the riding season you can wait forever for repairs because they have a huge back log. But that's true of every moto dealership pretty much everywhere. It's a seasonal "sport" so that's how it works. What I like about Sportique is that they'll let you test ride anything you want and they're honest.

One other thing. If at all possible, don't decide what scooter you want until you test ride every model in your price range. You may surprise yourself and prefer a People or Typhoon and the only way you'll find out is by riding all the 50's. Do yourself a favor and test the benchmark while you're at it (LX-50), even if it's in a different price bracket. Hey, you can't lose. Not only will you wind up with the scoot you prefer, you'll have fun test riding everything out there.

Thanks for the great feedback. I will get out and try a bunch of scooters prior to making the final purchase, I stayed away from the vespa origonaly due to $, but will give it a try based on your recommendations - it is the best time to ride them and when sales guys have a chance to talk you up into a more expensive scoot! Glad to hear that Sprotique has a such a good reputation with you all - they appear to be the only ones selling the 50cc Buddy in the area.
