floppy mirrors

Post by verdecalavera »

One of the mirrors on me Buddy is a bit on the floppy side. By that, I mean, it will flip out of position as the wind hits it upwards of 40 mph. Any way to tighten it up a bit? The bar stays in position but the mirror itself is too mobile. Do I have to buy a better after-market mirror?

cheers

Just position the mirror stem where you want it and tighten the nut at the base with a wrench.

I believe the OP is indicating that the stem is tight.

The mirror is actually loose on it pivot point.

I have the same issue with my left mirror and it's driving me nuts.

I can see no way to tighten it.

Mine is one of the new extended mirrors. Is yours?

Peace,

Shane is correct, the stem is fine. the mirror itself is the floppy culprit. It's a pain as I have to lurch forward and look down at the mirror to see what's behind me on the left side. I suspect there is better/safer option than this.

Mine (08 Italia - extended mirrors) does the same. Gonna ask the shop about it this afternoon while I'm down there.

I'm tempted to go with bar end mirrors, I just need to find a set that's good quality and reasonably priced.

I know that this can be tightened on some scooter mirrors. The mirror part comes off and there's a screw. Buddy's not handy right now, so I can't go look.

This is a common problem. Often just tightening the nut with a wrench will not work. If that's the case, try using some Loctite Threadlocker Blue.
